Makes sense, if they’re also going to have open-air monorails.

WALT DISNEY WORLD, FL — The Walt Disney World Resort and Spa continues to innovate in transportation, as new open-air Skyliner cars were revealed last week.

Concept art for the new gondola system previously showed enclosed cars with Disney characters on the outside. However, Uncle Walt’s Insider can now report that the cars will be completely open to the elements, with no walls or ceiling. And no restraints!

“Not just a ride, but a thrill”

Disney (the company) spokesperson Jun Disney (no relation) gives us the details.

“We are always looking to enhance the guest experience. Sure, we could have just let guests ride in peace and safety. But then the Skyliner would be nothing but a really cool way of getting from one place to another. We think our guests deserve more — not just a ride, but a thrill!”

The concept is not new, Disney (no relation) says: “We already have Monorail Clear in service. And we’ve  experimented with open-air monorails. We even recently tried going the other way, with monorail doors that wouldn’t open. Guests didn’t seem to like that at all, so open-air is definitely the way to go! Not incidentally, this also solves the whole ‘no air conditioning’ thing.”

Disney (no relation) notes that Cast Members will have free churro coupons available to compensate guests who fall out of their gondola car.
