Walt Disney World celebrates its 50th anniversary by charging more!

WALT DISNEY WORLD, FL — In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort, Spa & Guest Bilking Center, all complimentary transportation will end as of October 1st! The announcement was made in a post to an obscure social media platform, but we here at Uncle Walt’s Insider found it.

Disney has been making investors happy lately at the expense of guests, first when they announced the end of the Magical Express, the complimentary transportation between the Orlando International Airport and the various Disney Resort Hotels. A survey conducted by Disney showed that guest satisfaction with the Magical Express was through the roof, with guests not having to worry how to get families and luggage to and from the airport.

This of course drove Disney to cancel the Magical Express service. It has been replaced with a link to the the Lyft app, where at the writing of this article guests cannot order a MinnieVan, but can order Paul’s Prius that can only hold a single carry-on piece of luggage and maybe 2 guests.

We spot a trend

This survey also found that guests love being able to board a Bus, Monorail, Boat, Skyliner, or take the Magical Sidewalk+ to the various theme parks and Disney Springs. This prompted Disney CEO/Overlord Bob “Bob” Chapek to find another way to get guests to pay more.

So starting October 1st, guests will pay $2.00 per person to ride a Bus, Monorail, Boat, Skyliner or Magic Sidewalk+. Exact change is required at each turnstile. MagicBands, Credit Cards, and Disney Gift Cards are not acceptable forms of payment, just shiny dimes. If a guest does not have enough shiny dimes, there will be some available for purchase from the Scrooge McDuck branded “Number One Dime” Machines, at rate of 50¢ for a single shiny dime. Faded or dull dimes are not accepted, and will be rejected by the machines.

If this isn’t exciting enough, the buses and monorails will have a few of the vehicles wrapped to celebrate the 50th, distracting guests as they ooh and ahh as they drop their coins (again, shiny dimes) and board the most magical transportation this side of the Mississippi!

Reminds me of the time I got stuck on the William J. Le Petomane Thruway (language warning)! What about you? Comment below!
