No lines for Jar Jar Binks meet-and-greet

Most characters draw crowds of fans in an instant. Not this one.

DISNEYLAND, CA — Disneyland’s new area, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, is a runaway hit, now that they’ve added churro light sabers. And guests absolutely love meeting their favorite characters from the hit movie series.

And they’re apparently shunning their least favorite.

No love

“We’ve got fans flocking around Chewbacca,” says Disney (the company) spokesperson Jun Disney (no relation). “If he stops walking around, a queue to meet and take photos with him forms immediately.

“The same holds for our other meet-and-greet opportunities. Kylo Ren, frozen Leia, CGI Grand Moff Tarkin? Instant crowds. We even get mobs around Biggs Darklighter, Lobot, and Mon Mothma.

“But whenever Jar Jar Binks comes out, crickets.”

Therapy ahead

“There is a plus side to this, we’ve found,” Disney (no relation) continues. “When the four-hour window guests have on Batuu is up, we bring Jar Jar out. He can clear out the crowds like nothing else. It’s uncanny.”

But one Cast Member is not handling the character’s unpopularity very well.

“Yeah, poor Devon — the guy who ‘works with’ Jar Jar. He’s taking it pretty hard. Especially since he really wanted to be Chewbecca.”
