Lonely World: Tips for Disney singles on Valentines Day

Lonely World -- tips for singles at theme parks.

“Lonely World” is an ongoing series featuring romance tips for single adults visiting theme park destinations on their own.

Are you alone on Valentines Day? You don’t have to be!

While everyone the world fawns over his or her significant other, you are free to have fun your own way — and there is plenty of fun and camaraderie to be found for singles at Disney parks! So head on over to Disneyland or Walt Disney World and celebrate your singleness with these amazing tips:

Use the single rider lines

Here’s something that’s absolutely made just for singles — it’s even in the name! You can shorten your wait times for rides and meet people at the same time, because by waiting in the single rider line for attractions, you are guaranteed to be paired with someone you don’t know!

Looking for romance? Hang around bus stops

As noted in a previous article in this series, Disney bus stops are great places to meet other singles! Our source Stan told us, “Every now and then I’ll get lucky and stumble on a bachelorette party, having one last girls’ fling together before one of them gets married. That’s the motherlode, because they have marriage on their minds! You just have to figure out which one is the bride-to-be and avoid her.”

Slow, dark, theater shows are the best

Keep a lookout for potential boyfriends or girlfriends waiting to see one of Disney’s incredible theater shows, and then try to sit next to them!

Think about it: the lights are low, music is playing, and people are smiling. The setting is perfect — because nothing gets people in the mood for romance like seeing the Country Bears perform or hearing “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” over and over again!

Hit on the face characters

Desperate for some interaction with the opposite sex? While most people don’t have to talk with you, the face characters always will — and they are pretty attractive, too! Feel free to find your favorite prince or princess and flirt away, and don’t be at all bothered by the fact that they only tolerate it because they are paid to do so.

Oh, and don’t hit on Wendy; she’s just a kid, and that’s weird.

Sit on a bench and weep

If you have to despair over being unattached and friendless in a big, uncaring world, what better place to do it than Walt’s Magic Kingdom?

Just find a bench in an obvious, high-traffic place — Town Square is great for this — then slump down, hang your head, and let the tears flow. In no time you’ll have concerned cast members or sympathetic guests worrying over you and trying to cheer you up. And who knows, maybe one of them will be your future spouse, and you’ll have a great story to tell about how you met!

So this Valentines Day, don’t just resign yourself to moping around your house or apartment all day wearing sweat pants and bemoaning your singleness. Get yourself to a Disney park and mope there!
