“I Feel Pretty” surges to claim the #1 spot.
In spite of fan anticipation, marketing hype, and tens years of films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe building up to its release, Avengers: Infinity War opened nationwide yesterday in a disappointing fifth place, behind I Feel Pretty, Selfie Dad, I Can Only Imagine, and Tyler Perry’s Acrimony.
Uncle Walt’s Insider reached out to moviegoers and self-described Marvel fans to see why the movie opened so low in the rankings. Here is a sampling of the responses:
“Oh, was that this weekend? Dang it. I wish someone had said something.” — Steve Milburn, Paducah, KY
“After reading the review, I decided to skip the movie and just buy the soundtrack. It sounds awesome.” — Emeline Rowbottom, Utica, NY
“Hey, I was going to go on opening day, but then I realized I hadn’t yet seen “I Feel Pretty.” I’ll get there eventually.” — Arnold Rohas, Denver, CO
“They made a second Avengers movie? Oh, wow, yeah, I’ll have to go see that. I loved Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman in the first one.” — Vincent Bergstrom, Bend, OR
Uncle Walt’s reached out to the studio for comment, but no one returned our calls; one receptionist informed us that they were “on a group outing to see Sherlock Gnomes.”
Is Infinity War the end of the line for the MCU? Could there be a Spider-Man / Gnomes crossover in the works? Let us know what you think!
