Just what Florida wanted, Disney having more power.

ORLANDO, FL – As you may have heard, the Florida Legislature has stripped Disney of its control of its local quasi-government entity, the Reedy Creek Improvement District. But before the change took place, the outgoing board members voted to give most of the board’s authority directly to the Disney company (perhaps improperly).

But there’s more than arcane legal maneuverings going on, we’ve found. Apart from the usual building permits and other boring stuff like that, we at Uncle Walt’s Insider have discovered even more powers the board granted to the Disney Company. From now on:

Disney can bill guests directly for utility usage

Guests to Walt Disney World will receive a bill for a full month of electricity, gas, water and trash pickup at the resort after they return home.

Disney can directly appoint 20 of Florida’s presidential electoral college voters

They meant to give them all 30, but there was a typo.

Disney can authorize other nuclear power plants around the state

Not just the one they already have.

Disney can create movies based on new stories, not just remakes of classics

They’re obviously not planning to use this power anytime soon.

Disney has been given access to private bank records, so they can charge guests according to ability to pay

We’re pretty sure they’ve been doing this for years anyway. Now they just have official approval.

Disney can force the College of Cardinals to vote as they direct when the next Pope is elected

Have to admit, we really didn’t see this one coming.

For “act of God” clauses in any Disney contract, Disney shall for the purposes of the contract be referred to as “God”

Yes, we stole this joke from NewsRadio.
