Finally an event for everyone who ever looked at a the monorail track and thought, “Gee, I’d really like the climb up there and go for a run.”
WALT DISNEY WORLD, FL — Coming this fall to the Walt Disney World Resort is the newest RunDisney event, the “RunDisney 11.9K at the Walt Disney World Resort & Spa Epcot Line on the resort’s Monorail Transportation System Epcot Loop.” [Ed.: T-shirts with the full event title will only come in 3XL or larger.]
Guests will start their journey at the Ticket and Transportation Center, where they will carefully step onto the Monorail Beam. As the starting gun is fired, runners will run along the Monorail beam toward Epcot, around the loop through the park, passing through the Epcot Water (and Monorail) station, heading back toward the Ticket and Transportation Center. The entire loop runs 11.9 kilometers, or 7.4 miles.
Guests participating in the 11.9K will be required to run the entire event, with no walking allowed. Runners who go slower than the minimum pace will be swept. And for this event, that’s not a very enjoyable experience, as monorails will be operational during the 11.9K for guests with dining reservations at Epcot’s many fine restaurants.
No qualifications are required for this run. The cost to enter is $219 per runner, which includes the paper number to attach to your shirt (safety pins not included), one cup of water at the Epcot Water (and Monorail) Station, and a printed certificate of completion when you cross the finishing line. Having your name printed on the certificate is not included, but guests staying at participating Walt Disney World Resort & Spa hotels will receive a complimentary pen in their room which they can use to fill in their name.
