Now the sign’s not only functional, it’s interactive!
WALT DISNEY WORLD, FL — Disney fans have had mixed reactions to the new Tomorrowland sign installed at the Magic Kingdom Park and Spa last week. Some like the new design, while others object because it is different, and change is scary. As it turns out, though, the sign was not complete.
After the park closed for the night at 4:00 p.m. yesterday, workers attached an oversized basketball backboard and hoop to the sign.
What does the future hold?
We wondered what message the new addition was signalling. Is Disney saying the world of tomorrow will be governed by massive sports contracts, unlike today? Or will we all be subservient to our future NBA overlords?
“Not at all,” answered Disney (the company) spokesperson Jun Disney (no relation). “It’s just that Disneyland has had a basketball court inside the Matterhorn for ages. We didn’t want them to have all the fun.”
Giant basketballs will soon be available for purchase at the Emporium or the Merchant of Venus, or for lease with an option to own.
