Only one Universal-centered article in two months.
UNIVERSAL CITY, CA — Uncle Walt’s Insider has received a written complaint from the offices of Universal Studios, protesting that our website has published only one article about Universal theme parks in the last few months — and even that one seemed to mock Universal for not being Disney.
No fourth Disneyland Hotel
In other news, Disneyland announced Wednesday that it had canceled plans to build a fourth hotel on property at Disneyland. Instead, the land Ear-marked for the project will become the site of a giant, permanent churro festival. The canceled hotel location at Disneyland Drive and Magic Way currently features a parking lot for the Downtown Disney shopping district. The newly announced “Churro Fair” will effectively double the size of Downtown Disney, and will feature shops, carts, and restaurants, all of which sell churros or churro-related merchandise.
Wow, Disney is awesome.
Nothing to see here
Also in other (and completely unrelated) news, the Walt Disney Company is expanding its “media outreach program” to include relatively obscure theme park news websites. The program, instituted in 1956, rewards media outlets who focus on Disney parks to exclusion of any competitors. Perks include park passes, autographed merchandise, and coupons for free churros.
Journalistic integrity versus free churros? It’s a no-brainer, right? Comment below!
