“Dear (Step) Moms: I’m just beginning to plan my family’s very first trip to Walt Disney World! Because of our budget, we’ll likely stay in one of the value resorts, and we really like the look of the All Star Movies Resort. What is the best place or best room to stay there?” – Annalena Hardwick, Rapid City, SD

X:

Room 3506 or 3507. At the Polynesian.

Ub:

3506? That room’s a closet.

X:

Possibly, but a closet in one of the original buildings at the Poly is bigger than any “Preferred View” room at the All Stars.

Marty:

Can’t remember for sure if it’s at the All Star Movies, but the best room I stayed in was #8030. It was big, spacious, with two bedrooms, a sitting room, a big living room, dining room, and a 40-foot veranda overlooking the ocean.

Oh, yeah, it wasn’t at the All Star Movies. It was the Walter E. Disney Suite on board the Disney Wonder. Which I totally stayed in on my last cruise. It was amazing!

What was the question again?

Walt:

I find the apartment above the fire station to be quite comfortable.

Harriet:

Just don’t go to Walt Disney World. There are already enough people there without you.

Marty:

For once I am in agreement with Harriet. Not going to Walt Disney World is preferable to staying at the All Star Movies Resort.

Walt:

I think it depends if you’re going with family or alone. The room is sufficient size for a single traveler. The impact from the annoying group can be mitigated:

Marty:

Did you just call me annoying?

Walt:

No, but… guilty conscience?

X:

The real problem is the pricing. Disney hotel rooms are vastly overpriced for what you get. For the cost of one room at All Star Movies, you can have 5 rooms at the Motel 6. Same size, same lack of service and amenities, and Motel 6 will even leave a light on for you.

Marty:

But is it a Mickey-shaped light? No, it is not.
