Back home, thanks SGT

Post by LadySiren » Sat Jun 19, 2010 11:24 am

Literally just got back today after a 6-day WDW trip, mostly successful. I say mostly because we damn near melted while there. I have to tip my hat to the CMs we met - all of them were fantastic with one or two minor exceptions.

Weather: crazy hot
Crowds: huge
SGTs: in abundance at every park
CMs: pretty terrific

We ended up leaving two of the Fanatic cards (I think I have that term right) at Guest Relations for a couple of CMs who really went over and above. One was a greeter at RnR, the other was a lifeguard at BB. Our 13-year old son didn't want to ride RnR, as he was a bit worried about the corkscrew. Amy, the CM at RnR was fantastic - she tried her darndest to reassure him about the ride, talked about her own son, really took time out with him. Unfortunately, it didn't work but we were really impressed and thankful for her efforts.

Elizabeth, the lifeguard at BB, helped convince my daughter that the zipline was safe and wouldn't kill her if she tried it. After her ride, my daughter came off yelling, "Mom, that was COOL!" and proceeded to ride it again five more times. Elizabeth made a point of telling her she was a brave girl, gave her high-fives, etc.

We saw a number of SGTs wandering around...and two in our own group. My brother/sister-in-law and their son are nice people but holy cow...I wanted to smack the crap outta them a couple of times with the way they let their son act at WDW. I stepped in a couple of times and got soundly rebuked by my sister-in-law. They also drove me nuts with the whole "we want to ride right now but don't want to wait in line" thing that they had going on. They couldn't grasp the whole Fastpass concept (oy vey), either.

In any case, it was a good trip, if somewhat exhausting. I don't believe we made any major SG mistakes (in-laws notwithstanding). Thanks to everyone at WDW for what you do - my kids loved it.

I do know she's from Maine; I don't want to post more info than that (i.e. - the city she's from) without her permission. She was absolutely terrific with our daughter and we really, REALLY were thankful for her help. :)

There are no wallabies working at Blizzard Beach. :D:

And with regard to comments about Cast Members, if you are saying something good about someone, you can always put a hometown. That way, if one of us knows the person or their managers, we can make sure that gets back to them.

OTOH, if you have something bad to say, no hometown, and really, keep the name anonymous.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

We definitely put her city on the Fanatic form we left at Guest Relations; I just didn't want to post it here. People are sometimes a bit leery about their personal info being posted without their permission so I thought I'd better leave it off. Elizabeth was truly a sweetie - my DD really loved the fact that she got high-fives from her after her epic zipline ride.
