Perhaps I should have been more specific. From the house it's a three mile drive to the West Maui Airport. Then it's a 45 minute flight to Honolulu. From the airport it's 20.7 miles on the H1 and surface streets to Ko Olina. Round trip air is $140.

Um, hobie... You didn't mention the other option... sailing. Sail 76 miles each day? I'd do it.

Getting to Oahu would be pretty easy. Motor to Kapalua and catch the trades all the way.

Getting back not so much. It's either beat back through the trades that average 23 MPH or reach across to Molokai, around the back side of Lanai, and an easy beat back to Maui.

From what I know of Hawai'an customs, if you try to pick your own pineapple, a whipping is likely to follow promptly. Will that do?

I've never heard anything about pineapple rustlers. Either the growers don't care or the rustlers drift down the Lahaina Roadstead on their way to Tahiti.
