Sorry to say but you would not be hired. Or if you were hired initially, once the full check comes thru you would be out. Yeah, Disney checks that far back. Yeah, even juvenile stuff blips up.
Congrats on all you have accomplished since your incident. Sounds like you made a great recovery to a bad situation. Best wishes to you in your future.

Odd -- in Texas, you can detonate it, but only if you don't own it. I think you may also have to be deer hunting at the time.Lasolimu wrote:You know, it's funny, here in Utah it is legal to own a nuclear weapon, but illegal to detonate them.

Falsifying the application is exactly what she got fired for, even if Disney was flexible enough to give her a chance. I don't know what there policy is concerning hiring anyone with a felony...but it is almost universal that non-disclosure will bring down the ax.Whazzup wrote:Perhaps she was fired because she LIED on her application. It usually pays to be up front. You have paid your debt to society and have become a contributing member. Good luck.

I am pretty sure that checkbox was on the online application I filled out.

I wasn't planning to lie on the app, as I know that is viewed negatively and cause for termination by itself. It's sadly part of my history and I've learned to live with it. The trick is getting people to not pre-judge me when they see/hear this...
My main worry is that if I check the "Yes" button/box on the application, they would not even read the details or consider the circumstances. Or worse, if they have some hard policy about "will not hire" that's not flexible.
I wish there was a way I could apply and get "approved" so I know my bases are covered when I move back to FL, but for the hourly jobs, they want you in-person and on-site (which is understandable for 99% of applicants but makes it difficult on remote people).
you know, people would ask me about applying for a job like mine, and it REQUIRES a background and a clearance.
I always told them to apply, and make sure you put EVERYTHING down. IF you are honest, that is more than half the battle.
What you have got going for you is the fact of your conduct and your life AFTER the arrest.

Re: Getting a job at WDW - am I screwed?
On every job application I've ever filled out, or seen elsewhere, they always have that checkbox. Of course I've never committed any crimes, so I never had to check it. But I believe that if you check it, you will be given a chance to explain yourself, which I've also seen on application forms, so as long as you paid your debt to society, lived a law-abiding life, and made that clear at the interview, there shouldn't be a problem.

Just something to consider as well, there are certain tax breaks on the state and federal level for hiring convicted felons. The reason they ask if you are a felon, is so that they can file the proper paperwork to benefit from hiring you. Though of course, some industries need clean records, some just want to know when they can get their tax breaks.
