Thanks. Didn't mean to impose on Bru's thread. We've both been dealing with similar issues lately.

My brother's surgery is scheduled for 24 Aug, I hope he can hang in there long enough. He's a fighter and if he can make it to the surgery he may show a temporary improvement, although it's just a matter of time before the cancer grows too much to do anything about.

Bru - many hugs to you and March as you deal with his grandmother's condition. Wish there was something we could do for you to help ease the pain.

Just a quick update= the Saint wanted me to thank you all for your thoughts and hugs. I read him all the messages here when he called earlier and they not only touched him but made him smile too. Thank you for that.

Wazzup for the record you're definitely not imposing on this thread- keep talking lady! whatever helps get you through this ((((Wazzup)))))

Update on Grandma- she was "very lively" today according to March. They asked her what she remembered of yesterday and she didn't remember much (which just goes to show how sweet she really is- on all those pain meds when they gave her ice chips she declared they were "delightful") but they said to her "do you remember that (March) is here in town?" and she said "Oh yes I definitely remember that!!!"

They of course haven't talked about potential treatment yet she has to recover from the surgery she's on liquid nutrition and so will likely have to go to a rehab facility (there's one she really liked when she had her knee replaced) but she'll likely be in the hospital a week. She said one thing that really got to me though- this again speaks to the kind of person she is. she said "When I go, I just want to have a full tummy!" she's been so sick and unable to eat.

I just hope that's a wish that can be made a reality if that's all anyone can do for her.

You guys just don't know what your support means. But I'm sure he'll tell you himself when he gets home. thanks again.

xoxo

Whazzup-
Sorry I didn't put this in previous post- My thoughts are with you and your brother as well. I know he is getting the best possible help from you- Family Support and a good outlook are definitely factors in how well a patient does.

March's Grandmother is also blessed- sounds like he is the sparkle in her eyes. :)

Hugs to both you and March, Bru. The way you talk about Grandma makes me think of the "Fairy Godmother". :)

I agree. To me she sounds like she is one of the three fairy godmothers from Sleeping Beauty. Incredibly sweet by nature.

Hi everyone, I'm back home and I jsut wanted to say thank you for all your thoughts and well wishes! Grandma has a long way to go and a lot of decisions to make, but I really feel like my being there helped kick off the recovery process, and that's all I could have hoped for.

My biggest concern is that she can get back to eating and enjoying food. They really have to "jump start" her digestive system while is going to take somewhere on the order of 2+ weeks. One of the nurses already heard the system starting back up yesterday so hopefully it happens quicker than slower.

As for treatment, what we really need are percentages... i know my grandma and she's not going to want to deal with chemo if it really isn't going to help much. I kept stressing to my aunt that when they see the oncologist they need to get a really good idea of what can be done and how useful its really going to be. i learned that from watching Bru deal with her dad's doctors. You don't just jump on the first option they throw out there. Sometimes you have to pull the other options out of them.

I'll try to post here as I learn more. Like I said this is a two step process, 1. get her eating, and 2. Deal with the tumor in some way. Step one is progressing, step 2 looms on the horizon. I understand them not wanting to get into step 2 right after the surgery, but I hope it progresses some this week, as time is a luxury we don't have.

Thank you all again for your wishes! You are all the best!
