Please keep a good thought for the Saint...

Post by February » Fri Aug 07, 2009 5:30 pm

Hey everybody,

I just talked to Saint March on the phone and we've had some sad news. I asked him if i could post here knowing how good you all are at giving hugs at times like this and he said "yeah..."

His grandmother, who is an extraordinary lady (they just don't make em like that WWII generation anymore...) is very ill. Surgery today to bypass a blockage revealed pancreatic cancer that has invaded the intestine.

they're talking about potential chemo to shrink it, but they were told in no uncertain terms by the doctors that this is a matter of 'when' not 'if'...

she's such a special lady and this hurts a lot. March is really close to his grandma.

so please keep him in your thoughts? he's out east with his family (he went as quickly as possible and we decided i should stay here to hold down the fort at home) and won't be back till monday evening but I know it would cheer him up to hear you'd sent your greetings.

hugs to all
bru

I'm thinking good thoughts. Hang in there.

Saint March, I'm feeling for ya. I'm dealing with my brother who has brain cancer and has to have a second operation although they doubt it will do any good. I'm out in Oregon visiting with him and taking him places that he wants to go, like his old grade school and places he used to go on weekends. He has no short term memory but remembers a lot from the past. It's been tough watching him deteriorate so quickly.

That cancer monster is a terrible disease, and pancreatic can be really bad. I hope her doctors can help your Grandma deal with the physical and emotional discomfort. They are finding new treatments and cures all the time so there's always hope. I'm sending hugs and warm wishes to you and your family as you deal with this.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Bru-
I am VERY sorry to hear this about your husband's Grandmother. :( I hope everything will be done to help her be comfortable and she will get to enjoy her family all around.
There is no greater reward than to see your family turn out well, so at least that must be a comfort to her at this difficult time. You have told us how special your Husband is, so I know she is proud.

thank you so much everybody- i will read March your messages tomorrow when he calls.

wow, seems not so long ago- just what, four months? that he was reading me your messages when i couldn't see anything at all. now i can read him your messages even if with only one eye (so far) that's something to be grateful for...

he called not too long ago said that when Grandma woke up after her surgery (she didn't know he had flown in this morning) his uncle took him into the room and said "we brought one more person to see you" and when she saw March she just lit right up despite being on morphine.

He says she grabbed his hand and squeezed it and said "My sweetheart! You've made Grandma very happy."

god, this is gonna be rough...i keep thinking, didn't we just do this? Oh yeah, we did. Dad seems to have be having some unrelated cognitive issues these days that scare the living hell out of me too...

thanks for all your thoughts i know they're going to mean a lot to him and i'm sure he'll post here himself when he gets back early next week if he can't get use of a computer while he's back east.

Wazzup I am so sorry to hear about your brother, sending big hugs out to you and the family (((((((((((((Wazzup)))))))))))))))) I wish there was something profound i could say...

thanks again guys
hugs
bru
