According to Mormon doctrine, that is not enough for you to go to Hell, I think I am the only one on here that fits that category. The only way for you to go to Hell is to have been a baptized Mormon and they leave the church. There are two other alternatives, but I don't know of anybody that fits the seeing Jesus and denying him category which nets you the complete destruction of your soul(most people don't actually know about this one because it isn't taught, but it can be found if you look for it), and then everybody else goes to the "Waiting Room" where they choose to accept Mormonism or not which decides where they go.darph nader wrote:"Hey baby, hand me an icetea and show me some ankle". :D:

What I think is incredible is that for the longest time blacks were not allowed to join. They are now accepted in but are told that when they die they will go to heaven (or wherever) and become white so that they can enter.
What a humorous concept. And yet, people (blacks) buy into it and join. Can't quite wrap my head around that. Oh, well! Whatever floats one's boat, I guess!

Mormons are a scary scary bunch. I'm sure being gay puts you straight to hell as well.

Actually, they are supposed to become white before they die.Goofyernmost wrote:What I think is incredible is that for the longest time blacks were not allowed to join. Actually, no, nothing you do in life will condemn you unless that is rejecting Jesus after actually seeing him, otherwise you are either sent to Heaven on the spot if you meet all of the requirements or are sent to the waiting room until everybody there is judged again and sent to one of the three degrees of heaven.SandrA9810 wrote:Maybe it's thier way of wanting to be like Micheal Jackson...

So... huh? Basically why be Mormon if you can still be saved after death?Lasolimu wrote:Actually, no, nothing you do in life will condemn you unless that is rejecting Jesus after actually seeing him, otherwise you are either sent to Heaven on the spot if you meet all of the requirements or are sent to the waiting room until everybody there is judged again and sent to one of the three degrees of heaven.

That's just it, you still need to be Mormon, but you can convert after death, and if you don't you fall into the category of seeing Jesus and denying him. This is the whole purpose of Mormon baptisms for the dead, it is so people who weren't Mormon in life can still be saved.kurtisnelson wrote:So... huh? What I never understood about any religion that preaches the Hell is a horrible place to end up is, why would Lucifer want to punish me? He is trying so hard to get me to join him, and succeeded. I give him what he wants and he plans to punish me for it? Makes no sense.

I just love the South Park summary of Mormon beliefs ("dum de dum dum dum"). But actually I do agree with one part of their faith. They believe you exist before you actually come to Earth, and even though I am a Christian (albeit a very liberal one), I believe that is true. After all, if our existence is eternal, it would have to go both ways, right? If eternity never ends, that means that any given point would be the middle. So if you're an eternal being, you don't just poof into existence one day.

That isn't entirely true. They say that we are all part of a repeating process where we are born to parents in heaven who send us to a planet to test us, in our case, Earth. If we achieve the highest level of heaven we are given the same power and go through the same process. Yes, they are polytheistic and not monotheistic as they tell everybody else. So while you don't just pop into existence one day you didn't always exist.Syndrome wrote:But actually I do agree with one part of their faith. You have questions, I have answers. The Biblical description of hell isn't a place Lucifer rules over, it's a place of torment, of eternal separation from the presence of God, prepared for him and his angels -- in other words, Lucifer will be there for punishment, too. God really doesn't want anyone to have to join him there, and has provided a way of escape available to everyone through faith in Jesus. But He's also provided us with a choice.
