I have her copy right here & am reading it. My girlfriend isn't gay but because she is a singer/song writer she has the chance to hang out with many interesting talents & learn from all. Thanks BigWallaby for mentioning The Shack. A very fine read for anyone!
I knew there was something I had to do! I forgot I stalled out half way through it one night and haven't picked it back up yet. (ebook, so it's not like it stares at me)

If you want to get into the religious aspect, then I come down saying that Jesus saw the person, not the title. He saw the human being to love, not the sin to condemn.
That's the thing that really slays me. I am a Christian, and that in no way conflicts with my support of gay rights. Really, I see it as supporting that stance. After all, wasn't Jesus one of the world's greatest liberals?

When my sister and I people watch, we do notice the ones who stink so quickly. Lysol is not a good choice. Or the smell that no one can figure out. Put on some SURE and no one will die. Leave it off and you will destroy the O-zone layer.

Here's an interesting article related to that: http://www.godandscience.org/evolution/ ... ality.html.

This past winter when I was working at Indiana Jones often it was necessary to "pack" the audience to be able to get in a maximum number of people for the show. One thing I found that people actually listened to was when I announced: "Don't worry if the person next to you smells bad, they think you smell just as bad!" It always got a lot of laughter as a response, and one of the managers commented that people seemed to be paying attention. and would fill in spaces.

I've always found this to be an interesting topic. Originally I tended to think it was more "nurture" than "nature." Now that I am a counselor who works with many gay and lesbian clients, I've discovered that nearly all of them knew their orientation from early on. They may have tried to squelch it, but it was there. Based on that, I have flipped over to the biology side although I believe that environmental factors can suppport or surpress it to an extent. As far as I can figure, gay people 'know' who they are attracted to in the same way that I 'know' I am hetro...it's just a part of who you are.

But the last three words ARE the qualifier.

The one kind of person I have a hard time with is the one who won't admit who he or she is. I understand this is out of fear, but it still drives me up a wall. My attitude toward someone in the closet is this: If you'll admit it to yourself, you don't even have to to me or anyone else... but if you'll be honest with yourself, then we can move on from there, and I can accept you for who you are. I would much rather know that person that you might be afraid right now to be as opposed to that fearful shell, because once that person comes out, you're going to live a much more full life. I'm not saying it will be easy, but you'll be able to get through the hurdles, and the great thing is, there are people who will support you, from both sides of that fence, in the decision you make.

Why can't I stand people being in the closet? Because fear turns the best people awful. When you fear another person, especially when there are a lot of them around, you turn ugly. One guy at work was so scared of the gay guys. I tried to help (no, not by trying to drag him out of the closet, you can't do that to ANYONE), but some friendly advice. Just have fun. Correct me if I'm wrong, but during Gay Days, isn't that the express reason Disney World is the chosen location to have the event, year after year? To have fun? So stop fearing them, and have fun with them. Doing so does not support, condone, condemn or fault anyone. Having fun with them helps them to do the most important thing they came to Disney World to do.

Around here, fun and joy are extremely serious business. Doesn't matter who you are or what you beieve. And those two things unite us into the race of human beings more than any other.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Well said, BW.
