Stupid Telephone Call

Post by Cheshire Figment » Thu Jun 11, 2009 8:40 am

Yesterday I was working Guest Services at Typhoon and got a call from a woman about last Friday night. She complained that "The Park was swarming with homosexuals and she and her husband left and they want a refund on their tickets." And she said she paid about $65 for each ticket.

Last Friday night TL was opened for a private party after the Park had been cleared. There were signs up that it was a private party. She said that her hotel told her that TL was open late.

I did suggest that she go to one of the Gay Days web sites and find out who was running the party and contact them for a refund. We could not do anything for her, not even give her a free entry, because the tickets were not sold by Disney.

She should have noticed the signs, that the prices were much higher than the posted prices on the outsides of the ticket booths, and maybe also the guys running around in Speedos or less.

I think she did, that's why she complained.

I see this every year at the land out here.
one biker type couple and thier kids was screaming at GS he and his hoard spent over 1000.00 to come to the land. and all he sees is the gays all over the place and wants ALL his money refunded to him. lol
after a while, GS said they would give his family readmit tickets they could use at a later date to come back. but the guy wanted ALL his money he spent on the trip refunded. he was still screaming at GS when I got board and left. people dont read the fine print on disney stuff. You must check to see what is happening at the parks, it's not thier responcibility, it's yours.
No Refunds.

I can't believe they offered him the re-admit. I mean... isn't that pretty much the same as walking into the park, and then going to complain because there are too many Mormon guests or Hispanic guests?

Yep, I had my experience with that.

I had a family come up to me, complaining about "that black guy in the red shirt over there" and started going off on his homosexuality and how it wasn't family friendly.

Well, being a Cast Member and all, it was someone we work with, who I've only worked with once and seen in passing twice, but I feel I know enough about him to know he's a nice guy.

He watched me feigning concern, with a knowing look over his way to make sure he knew I was bullsh**ting these guests until their teeth turned brown. He was doing everything he could not to crack up in the distance and finally turned away.

Had I not been sending it from my cell phone, words on my Facebook status would not have been omitted, so it would have read, "That family that came up and complained to me about 'that black guy in the red shirt' and about his awful lifestyle can kiss my Conservative Christian straight white butt." Let's see, that's homophobia, racism, bigotry, and what else in one statement? Impressive, I must say. How I wish they had been wearing the Incredibles family set of shirts.

It's also funny to watch the homophobic Cast Members. They are respectful, but you can tell they're uncomfortable and want nothing more than to get away. Especially when I start joking with people with "Bear Patrol" shirts or otherwise in front of them...

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

My issue with these people is that it ONLY seems to be a problem with GAY DAYS?!?

Honey, those cute, sweet gay boys are there every flippin' day. Hell, most of 'em work or have worked there at one time or another. Just because one day out of the year they wear red shirts to a theme park gets your panties in a bunch?

I love how it's like the general consensus that they what, emerge from underneath the castle to prey upon unsuspecting ignorant folks. Who do you think that smart person that helped you put together that fabulous outfit at the Emporium was? Or that extremely nice CM that assisted you so patiently to find out where the best place to watch the parade is? Duh!

Get over yourselves.

You're just jealous 'cause their relationship is way better than yours. They actually :gasp: enjoy spending time with their mate and don't give a rat's ass about anything but having a good time.

Perhaps that's what those "offended" families should do. Relax and pay attention to each other. Trust me, the parks are big enough for even your small mind to get a clue.

~I'm off my soapbox now. Carry on.~

One company I worked for had a number of gay guys. They were the nicest people, very creative and probably the best workers we had. They also could talk intelligently about most anything. It was always an interesting lunch to hang out with them as the discussions could go anywhere.

Although I'm straight, I'm a big gay rights supporter due to a family situation coupled with having many gay/lesbian therapy clients and seeing the effects that homophobia have on them. I always wear my "Straight But Not Narrow" t-shirt on Gay Days at Disney, just hoping some bigot will dare to open their mouth so I can ream them a new butthole. I've gotten some hateful stares...the most notable was last year, from a man wearing a "Marriage. One Man, One Women. Period." shirt, but neither he nor any of the others have ever verbally engaged me. Too bad...maybe they sense my South Side of Chicago attitude and see the glint of my razor tongue in the sunshine.
