I remember reading while lurking, Big Wallaby is from Oregon also.
Is there a lot of us?
I am Wallaby's brother.

Apparently, a few of us rain-birds are from the always sunny, dry, and warm state of Oregon.

Obviously you didn't grow up in the same state I did! :D:

My son, who lives across the river in Portland, insists that it doesn't rain "that much" anymore. All I remember is those long damp winters, sometimes there was snow, sometimes there was only rain (snow was way more fun). But I think he might be right - we like to visit in October and we've even been there at Thanksgiving for a week without a drop of rain. Strange.

I remember going to Enchanted Forest as a kid, OMSI on field trips from school, the Rose Garden (beautiful place), the Zoo (remember when Packy was the first elephant born in captivity?), Moe's at the coast (YUMMY!). You're bringing back lots of good memories.

DisneyMom - I've always wanted to visit Grant's Pass. We almost moved there years ago but decided to move to Florida instead. Whose idea was that?? Not mine!! Been through that area on I-5 a few times. Very historical areas around Grant's Pass & Jacksonville.

My ex-sister-in-law lives near Corvallis and worked at OSU for many years in the printing Dept. I wanted to go to school there but ended up at Portland State instead (cheaper).

I have a large diploma from SNOB (Society of Native Oregon Born) signed by the "officials" that designates me as a "Mossback" since I'm from west of the Cascade Mountains. Can't remember what the central/eastern Oregon folks are called. Sagebrushers? Junipers? Something arid, I'm sure.

We've visited some nice areas around there including the caves (watch out for Bigfoot!)downtown touristy areas and gone camping at Lost Creek Lake and Coos Bay. Have seen the Rose Garden I believe has been mentioned, the
Elk sanctuary, the Zoo, sand dunes, and I think we went to Corvallis as well. Everytime we go I swear we should move there. Unfortunately, crime is going up everywhere (they blame it on transplanted Californians:o :)

When the price of real estate in California started escalating and the prices in Oregon were still reasonable, lots of CA folks started moving north. Oregonians referred to it as Californicating. :p:

I got a story for you. I went to my doctor's office this morning. I over heard his conversation with a near by major hospital. He got busted for not leaving medical notes for chemo thearapy. He said to the crew that he does that all the time. A few minutes after the doctor was trying to explain he had been doing this for 20 something years, I heard him start cussing out the hospital.

Now I came in there complaining of possibly strep, fever and a sinus pressure. He went off on me and bitched that each time I come in, there is something wrong with me. OK! I have had kidney stones, kidney infections, hey dork! These can kill your butt if you don't catch the elements right away. He then sees something suspeicious and swabs my troat. He checks things out. I mentioned sinus pressure and unable to eat.
He says it is a virus. Hey idiot, I have had this stupid sinus problems after I had sinus surgeries. I know what strep is and I know what a sinus infection is. What is bad enough is that I am allergic to allot of medications. I can only take a hand full after being tested for them.
Yes, I was and have been running a dang fever for over a week and a half.

I also had a steroid cream that my skin doctor told me to use for dry skin. I found out that was possibly a corporate to me getting sick, but I seriously would doubt it. I was also put on Advair in which I did toss into the trash after finding that was a steriod and I had been on that for almost 3 years.

Sorry, I am venting, but the doctor treated me like shit and when he was walking me down the hallway he started to cuss me out and pissed me off beyond ticked. I turned around and told him off right in front of my mom who went with me. I told him he was a major a**h**le and told him I was going to get a second option and probably change providers.

So, my mom tells my dad what had happen and he starting to agree with the doctor's option. Ok, now I am so mad that I seriously exploded in front of them and said, hey I was born with these health problems and it was not my problem and for the doctor to say it was my fault caused me to explode again in front of them. I seriously told my parents and the doctor, I am getting a second opinion, and if worst comes to worst, I will change my insurance and go to Kaiser. My parents were shocked to hear this and I told my parents, I am sick and tired of being treated like crap and I am not tollerating this any more.

GOOD FOR YOU! And don't forget to file a complaint with the medical board about that pus-for-brains. If anyone needs his license pulled and be kicked out of the medical community, it's him. Probably got into medicine only because of the money and prestige.

But if I had done that, I would've gotten my booty kicked and my ears barbecued from everybody yelling at me.

Well, isn't that why people GO TO THE DOCTOR? Sounds like there is something wrong with him! Sorry you had that experience, Turkeyham. You should do whatever you have to do to get a new doctor. He sounds like a jerk.

That's what I was thinking. For a doctor, isn't is a good thing if they don't see you?
