Typical Guest Behavior?
Typical Guest Behavior?
Today, I was at Typhoon Lagoon in the big wave pool. I observed an older gentleman climbing out of the pool, using the stairs. I then observed, and heard, the lifeguard politely and kindly ask the man to return down the steps, and back into the pool.
I'm sure I had a shocked face when I saw what happened next: The guest simply ignored the lifeguard's instructions, and kept walking, and I then heard "Sir" come out of the lifeguard.
The guest then flipped the bird, and kept walking, and didn't look back.
This isn't typical, is it?
I've been to Disney a few times, and each time, I see people acting as if nobody has any right, or permission, to request them to do something (especially for their safety).
Last night, as I'm sure many people may know, it rained. I wouldn't say it rained a lot, as I'm from Oregon, but, it was definitely wet. Anywho, I was riding on the "jet tractor" and I was sitting next to Wallaby. On the right of Wallaby, was a young boy, perhaps 6 or 7. In front of the boy, was the family (parents, siblings) of the boy.
As we are riding along, we start going around the corner after the underpass heading towards the parking lot. Suddenly........... there is a rather large amount of water that is, for a lack of better word..pouring on me. Wallaby scoots over as far as he can, however, the boy is taking up a good chunk of the seating area, looks at me, and then looks back forward. The boy's mother, or at least guardian, looks back, sees that I'm soaking wet, and still getting ...wetter, and does nothing.
I really wanted to say something, but I felt that it'd probably be best for Wallaby if I just kept my mouth shut.
Am I just noticing a few "bad apples" or are guests always with a "me first" attitude?

As an introduction, Rex is my brother. I would welcome you to SGT, but Wombat does a better job.
Folks, when he says "Jet Tractor", Rex is referring to the parking tram.
I was sitting there, and both Rex and I, for those who know me, are roughly the same petite size. The kid that was sitting in the very middle was about ten years old. He was sitting in the middle of the seat, with his legs spread as far as possible to take up the most room possible.
It wasn't raining hard, but it was enough that when the tram started moving, it created a very nice stream that landed right in Rex's lap. By the time we were over to the Minnie parking lot his shorts were soaked. Fortunately, not just enough to make one think he had lost control.
I actually scooted over into the kid next to me, commenting that I'd get Rex out of the water flow, hoping the kid might get the hint, or that his parents would. Nope, he just stayed right there, even when I was pressing against him. He had to have been quite uncomfortable the whole time I sat almost in his lap.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
Re: Typical Guest Behavior?
Well, I wouldn't necessarily say it's typical, but I will say that people like that do tend to stick out more...
I'll have to keep my eyes open when I'm down there in a few weeks. (19 days to go! Yay!) :D:

I have noticed that the trams suck in general at directing water away from the riders. The roof isn't channeled or something.

A bunch of them also leak from around at least one speaker too. The design of their roof is not a good one when it comes to rain.kurtisnelson wrote:Wombat is the apprentice smilie master.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

BW,
At least they do not have these trams at the Enchanted Forest. I used to live in Corvallis, Oregon.
Now for the kid, I would think if he had a brain and saw others getting wet on the tram, yes, please move over. But, if the parents were the same, please don't let them onto air planes.

I have a 10yo son, and can bear witness that they do not, in fact, have brains. They are also deaf a good part of the time. The boy wasn't being rude - he was absolutely typical.turkeyham wrote:BW,

Now the parents, if they were aware of the situation, are a different story.

Why would the lifeguard ask the guest to go BACK into the pool? Not that I'm excusing the man's behavior lolRex wrote:Today, I was at Typhoon Lagoon in the big wave pool. I'm confused also. What's the difference between the stairs and the steps getting out of the pool? Same thing? Is one a safety hazard or something? Please clarify.Saint March wrote:Why would the lifeguard ask the guest to go BACK into the pool? Not that I'm excusing the man's behavior lol

Ignoring the CM's request and actually flipping him off, now that's downright rude behavior.
