Men With Explosives

Post by Zazu » Tue Oct 26, 2004 11:37 pm

Today was a "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party", so the WDW Railroad stopped running at 4:30. Lucky me, I was stuck at Frontierland greeter for the following hour plus.

"Is the train still running?"

"No, we had to close early today."

"Really, why?"

"Well," I said, and looking around furtively I whispered, "We found some men alongside the railroad tracks with explosives."

"OH NO!!!!"

"Well, the explosives were the fireworks for tonight's party, but still ... I don't like to argue with men holding explosives, even if they are pretty explosives."

The funniest part of the bit was watching the expressions on my fellow CMs as they overheard! Image

do you have to go 101 for pyro display? Fantasyland does, but not steam trains, unless we're Phase 2, then we pull the third train, and put one at tomorrowland, and another at Fronteirland(new orleans) and wait for the all clear. Phase 2 is when the wind is blowing south, and the fallout will go towards the park, and we'd all be covered in soot.

Yes, we go 101 because the WDW RR tracks run about 30 yards away from the main fireworks launch site -- way too close! We also take off the third train and park (at Main Street and Toontown) during normal fireworks. If fireworks are at park close, we just pull off and close an hour ahead.

For special events like the Halloween and Xmas parties, Independence Day, New Years Eve, and a couple of others, we get a "permiter tag" on the fireworks. This means there are twelve additional launch sites located so that the entire park is surrounded by exploding fireworks. Extremely cool, but half those launch sites are directly on our tracks!

Sorta gives me an attitude problem. Image

For the MNSSHP, with perimeter fireworks at 9:15pm, we start our last run at 4:30pm to give the pyro techs time to set up while it's still light out.

Give it time, disney has already taken over alot of that area, doesn't anyone remeber the minature golf course that was on the way there, and how the 5 freeway went UNDER katella, one was able to see tha Matterhorn, and sometimes splash and space mountians from the overpass. now we've renamed streets, made new ones, and set up a whole other little city in the area, if Disney wanted to, they'd find a way to build more parks, and simply move other stuff around. Just because that Spire is finished, doesn't mean the resort is... i hope.

Justifiably so. The (Santa Fe &) Disneyland Railroad is a most exquisite train indeed.

Almost as nice as mine!

Sounds cool...it's a shame that DL would have to shut down half the park, most of the backstage areas, and probabaly Harbor Blvd in order to accomplish something even remotely as impressive.
What would be even more impressive than perimiter fireworks at Disneyland would be the noise made by the neighbors! Image

we have ONE that's nicer than any of yours, simply because it accomdates two+ conductors, and has a sound system that you have to whisper into other wise people's ears bleed.

That's starting to sound like the sound system at the Movie Ride. All of the vechiles are so loud right now that they make your ears bleed. Also all of our gangster mics are extremely loud also and you can't put them any lower. Oh well, I guess I like making people's ears bleed from being so loud.
