Absolutely patehtic, IMHO. Ain't funny to joke about someone's death, ain't funny at all. And then to use the opportunity to attack the disabled who use ECVs for legitimate purposes.....

Re: Just Saw This on Board XX
I was about to say it has to be a hoax. My fiance' works at OMD/Narnia and was completely clueless about this. He's been at work for the past few days and asked around, no one has heard anything. He knows most of the Mermaid, Backlot, Animation, and Playhouse people...I'm pretty sure someone would know something if it were true.

I agree. All those Disney boards are just home to some of the nastiest, meanest, most rude bigots one could ever imagine.glendalais wrote:Absolutely patehtic, IMHO. It's really sad that someone would make up something like this.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

Indeed.
Well, that's the Disney Internet communities for ya.
I have seen far too many examples to think otherwise.

Re: Just Saw This on Board XX
Most of you who have known me here for a long time know the story of Ralph, my husband. He suffered a massive head injury at age 21. He was hit straight on the head, in a hedd on collision with a car. He was on a motorcycle, no helmet. He was in a coma for 3 months and semicomatose for 6 months. He lived in the hospital for 2 and half years and had to learn to do everything again, just like a child learning everything. They drilled burr holes in his skull to release the pressure, and when that did not work, they removed half of his skull until the damaged brain's swelling went down. Then a Brain specialist washed his brain. Yes, you heard that right, he washed his brain to get rid of debris and blood that had built up. Ralph now has a methylmerthaculate (not sure of spelling on that one!) plate in half his head now.
His is a miracle story. Very few people live after the traumas he suffered to his brain. Yet he graduated some 10 yrs later from UC Berkeley with a 4.0 and then went on to do an Electronics trade school course of study and blew through that with a 4.0. He is a math genius. He is a miracle, my living miracle and proof that sometimes people do recover from very severe traumatic head injuries. I love that God brought him back, for he died at least 4 times in the hospital. Dead. They brought him back and I know that God was not ready for Ralph in Heaven yet. He has something to finish here.
Sadly, most do not recover to the extent that Ralph has. He is truly a special person, ask Disney Mom. She knows him. He is incredibly emotionally strong and he is bright and loves life! And he regained all his motor activities as well. He walks and drives and loves Disney! :)
It is so sad to hear of these head injuries and know that some recover, some don't. I look at my miracle love everyday and thank God he sent him to me.

Just to make sure everyone's on the same page here ...
I exchanged a few PMs with the OP on the Board X thread. Not to cause trouble, but because based on some information that was posted on the original thread, I thought that I knew the CM in question. John (the OP) was very gracious in answering my PMs, and confirmed that his sister, Mindy, had passed away on Friday.
A quick glance at the Orlando Sentinel's webpage, http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/orl ... ory?page=1 , confirms this is not a hoax.
Mindy was a CM in the Backlands area at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I worked with her at the Backlot Tour, and also was an On With The Show facilitator with her. She was one of those cast members that could always see the good side of a situation, and was usually pretty good at getting others around her to see it as well.
Rest in peace, Mindy.

Re: Just Saw This on Board XX
It's very sad. The death, unfortunately, was not a hoax.
The OP on the other board did post another thread, however, appologising for 'jumping the gun' and blaming a person who did not exist as to the cause of her death. He went on to explain that his sister appeared to have told the story to several people (he being one of them) but that he has since found out through the police investigation that she had not been at work for several weeks and that it appears the cause of death was mixing medications, causing some sort of overdose.
Whatever the cause, though, it's a very sad story.
