Re: Tell me it ain't so, DLR has no greeters on rides
Well, I'm a "plaid", and I know where the wheelchair seating is. I won't say that everyone in my department knows it off the top of their heads, but any of the ones I've trained do, and anyone who doesn't has about 6 resources to look it up.
I've noticed that on other boards the ultimate way to show you know everything is to claim (whether true or not) that you stumped "a plaid". When you tell a story about the parks and someone else says "that's not true, that never happened!", the way to respond is "Well, they said it on a Walt tour! Those Tour Guides just make things up! None of them know what they're talking about!" I'm getting pretty tired of being accused of incompetence on the internets (I don't mean here, your story just prompted a rant - sorry!)

That is what offended me the most. I can understand that someone from foods ends up on a parade route and knows nothing but do not go around dissing the plaids. Every plaid I have met was trained to know the answers or know how to find the answers and not just in English. They are taught how to deal with guests and would never leave a disabled guest sitting there with no answers. They would be whipping out maps and then calling people.
NOBODY DISSES PLAIDS or for that matter. lol silly me. She can bad mouth Dumbo and the bobsleds but not CMs as they good people whom makes the park shine and the place happen.

I pop in at Monster from time to time, and I generally have fans there. However, a few months ago a poster said she had a cat with hyperthyroidism and wanted information on treatment options. Well, I have a cat with hyperthyroidism, and I gave her the benefit of my experience. Then there was this other poster who screamed at me, calling me a mad scientist, and started pulling some garbage. I mean, she was totally going ballistic. She gave me some information about what she felt was the "right" way to treat hyperthyroidism, and when I checked it out, it was pure quackery. So in order to keep the peace, I took a hiatus from the Monster boards.
Yesterday I went back, checked new messages that had been posted in reply to mine, and I came across a post that, from the descriptions, seemed to be dissing me. It was between someone who was one of my famns and this bizarre poster. I posted a reply, keeping it civil, asking my fan if they were referring to me, explaining that I had decided to take a break because of the controversy, and I kept it calm and mature. I also put the crazy lady on Ignore.
Today I had some replies in my email inbox, and to my delight I discovered the fan wasn't talking about me, and didn't want to look at the old post to see what it was about. The crazy lady, though, acknowledged being on ignore but said she didn't care, she also accused me of coming back to "stir the pot". So I reported her. I checked her profile, and it says she's employed and not looking for a new job. So why is she still there, spreading discord and being a troll?
If you want to see one board I'm on that eats trolls for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, between meal snacks and midnight snacks, it's catchannel.com. Woe to any troll that comes on and tries to say anything amiss to a bunch of dedicated cat lovers! One fool put his picture on his avatar--man, none of his neighbors better be on that board!
There is one member of catchannel who does things contrary to what is considered proper cat maintenence, like leaving them outside, not spaying/neutering, but she never makes personal attacks, and we gently and respectfully try to educate her. Takes all kinds to make a world....

Turns out she is an AP.Zazu wrote:Do you mean this one?![]()

Even though her post idicated there were not greeters on rides she changed that. Now she was explaining to another poster that there are no greeters on rides in the first place.

Here is how I would have worded the response.
For disabled guests they can gets assistance from the greeter of a ride, attraction or show. If no greeter is present the speak to the ride operator and if the disabled guest cannot get to the ride operator then ask the nearest CM for help.
See how easy that is and so clear.

If you are going to help people then do not make broad remarks like all the rides you rode got your wet or made you sick. Say the facts,

Re: Tell me it ain't so, DLR has no greeters on rides
It may have already been stated (or hinted), but "Greeter" is a mandatory position on any attraction with boarding requirements (i.e., height requirements or other physical limitations, health warnings, etc.). There are no exceptions to this rule (it may even be State-mandated, but don't quote me).
In addition, Fastpass positions are mandatory on any attraction during the hours that Fastpasses are used. In almost all cases, these positions are located near the attraction's entrance as well.
Bottom line... if a ride such as Indiana Jones, California Screamin', Splash Mountain (etc.) does not have a "Greeter", then the ride cannot be operated with guests on-board. I challenge someone to find a time when there isn't at least one Cast Member (if not two) located at the entrances of such attractions.

Re: Tell me it ain't so, DLR has no greeters on rides
I was back in the parks with my friends. We did see a few greeters. Splash Mountain had one today, California Screamin' had one, Space Mountain and also Buzz light year sure did not!! I am coming back tomorrow and see what else I see.
Re: Tell me it ain't so, DLR has no greeters on rides
Sometimes, on slower days, we have only one person out front at Indy to Greet and Validate (check the Fastpasses for correct times, etc). When this is the case, we generally will not have anyone in the Boathouse (Fastpass distribution area). The computer that allows us to change the posted wait time (among other things) is in the Boathouse. It is not uncommon for that one person out front to be called to go change the wait time, fix a Fastpass machine, or do something else in the Boathouse. However, our Leads like to avoid that since it leaves no one to check Fastpasses.
I could be wrong, though. Disney doesn't exactly tell us what the State Law is regarding particular issues. They just tell us to do things a certain way, and we have to assume they are operating in accordance with the Law.
I don't believe this is true. Guests that do not meet the height requirement have many ways of making it into the attraction, whether it be walking in normally when the Greeter is busy, or going up the exit with a wheelchair group. The final word is in the station with the Grouper. If the Grouper says they are too small, then they don't ride. The Greeter is out there to make sure that someone who does not meet the height requirement does not wait through the entire line, only to be turned away.Bottom line... if a ride such as Indiana Jones, California Screamin', Splash Mountain (etc.) does not have a "Greeter", then the ride cannot be operated with guests on-board.
