Oh, yeah!! I wrok at HISTA at Disneyland, and many times before the show started, I spieled that there is no eating, drinking, smoking, FLASH PHOTOGRAHPY, and VIDEOTAPING!!!! What they do?? They either take falsh pictures or video tape with the light on?? Of what?? A movie screen?? What they don't know it won't work if they recorded, so it's no use. We have a side PA if we need to spiel, so I used that. I did that a couple of times, no reactions. I usually just go up to the guests and tell them to turn up their videotape recorder, and they do. One time it was, not one, not two, but like four or fave ASIAN TOURISTS!! They are the worsts!! They don't listen because they don't understand a word of English!! I just shined my flashlight on them and nod my head "NO!!!" The rest of the group followed!!!PirateJohn wrote:And let's not forget those who also take flash pictures of projection screens.

Hi everyone! I'm a long-time lurker, first-time poster. I've noticed a lot of sarcasm on this site...LOVE it! :D:
Anyway, what gets to me almost as much as the flashing is the sheer thoughtlessness of the people taking pictures or filming. Yeah, it's fine if you want to film Illuminations. Sure, it's a nice show, and it's okay to want to take it with you. But, it is NOT okay to block the view of everyone around you.
My dad, stepmom, and I were at Epcot with my grandma and 2 cousins. It was my grandma and cousins' first time at WDW, and of course we wanted it to be perfect for them. Everything went smoothly, until we sit down to watch Illuminations. This idiot in front of us HELD UP his videocamera during the ENTIRE show.
At first, we just tried to see around it. But the place was packed, and there was no way we would have been able to move elsewhere. My dad cleared his throat and said, not unkindly, "Excuse me, sir, we'd like to be able to see." The guy just turns around and explains that he can't film any other way, without the view being obscured by the fence in front of him. Um, dude, put the lens THROUGH the bars...
it's not that difficult
. So, thanks to this idiot, my grandma and cousins STILL have not seen Illuminations. :(

Welcome, DisneyAddict. So sorry to hear about your addiction. At least you have found a cool support group. :D: Marsupial Welcoming Committee - front and center!
Yes, we have all observed, sometimes at close range, the SG who insists on blocking the view of others in one way or another. Too bad we can't borrow a little rabid ankle biter to do our dirty work for us, eh?

Hmm...unfortunately, I didn't have one of those handy. But, I did have an older cousin who is not afraid of "paybacks". (He made sure to "accidentally" shove the guy pretty hard as we were leaving. ;) :clap :)

Hey there disneyaddict and you will learn from the Queen of Paybacks Syndrom how to handle an SG. I use my disabilities like oops CRAMP and goose the guy in front of me or run down people with an ECV.
this is a fun group who can teach you how do deal with SGs of the world. I used what I learned here to deal with SGs in airports, banks, and restaurants.

Ooh, good idea! Maybe a frustrated sigh would make it be more believable... ;)

My son does this with his capri sun pouches and juice boxes. Unfortunately, while he does send a message to the folks he thinks are annoying, he also thinks it's funny to squirt ME when all is said and done.....and yes, even though he's 5, he lays on the "WHOOPS" while giggling very quickly....

As a fan of that tragic disability known as Payback Syndrome, my tourettes would cause my hand to flap out uncontrollably in front of his lens while I spouted various obscenities loud enough for the soundtrack to pick up. My favorite payback was on a Disney cruise once when the jackass next to me kept taking flash photos and played the "I don't speak English" card when I told him to knock it off. I was hoping he'd use some English when I trampled the hell out of his feet while leaving so I could retort, "Gee, sorry, but I'm blind from your flash and can't see where I'm going." But he never said a word and actually jumped up on his seat when Mr. Syndrome passed...probably thought he was gonna get more of the same from someone weighing a good deal more with much bigger feet to do the trampling.

"Oh, I guess you won't understand that I have a SERIOUS flatulence problem and I just had a meal of beans, broccoli, and cabbage. I topped it off with a 3 milk shakes. Oh, I'm also lactose intolerant. And I have an incontinence issue. I also eat Olean chips like they are going out of style. Good luck!"Syndrome wrote: My favorite payback was on a Disney cruise once when the jackass next to me kept taking flash photos and played the "I don't speak English" card when I told him to knock it off.
