Re: Back from the World... SG/SCM reports
It could be a issue with the vendor who supplied the GOH tags. I think the same vendor supplied Knott's with Snoopy keytags and zipper pulls that could be personalized. They came out once to set it up and then never came back to service the program.
Or it could be a design issue. Perhaps Disney is revamping the badges. Maybe they are removing the VIP/Guest of Honor status off the badge.
I have a really old GOH badge from DL. It looks just like the CM badges they had at the time, but red.

Like I said previously, my GOH Badge means to me that I am HONORABLE, and I act that way!
I know I bought it, but it means something to me! :)
I know SG's wouldn't get it, tho....

DW and I bought one each year to commemmorate the trip, but I guess we will have to find something else!
Hmm. Does DLR and WDW sell some sort of souvineers with the year on them? (hehehehe)
:pirateflaARRRRRRR YA DOIN'?
Re: Back from the World... SG/SCM reports
If I'm not mistaken, the term "Guest of Honor" dates back to WDW's 25th anniversary. Disney declared that all returning Guests who were visiting during the 25th anniversary were "Guests of Honor". If you visited Expo Hall on Main Street during that time, you could get a white rectagular pin (or sometimes it just had a sticky backing) with "Guest of Honor" and the year of your first visit (or a "First Visit" designation).Ms. Matterhorn wrote:That struck me as strange that you could BUY a GOH tag. One shouldn't declare oneself a "guest of honor". Good thing they stopped selling them.
The CM-like GOH name tags I guess took that naming concept and ran with it.

Oh, the CM-Like GOH badges from the 25th anniv. were even more CM-like. They were still red, but had the 25th logo on them and could have your name and hometown engraved on them.
We bought one for our Daughter and I know it's in this house somewhere. It's no 3 times the sentimental value:
1) It was special for that year
2) It was here first trip
3) They don't have them anymore
Daughter was never asked if she was a CM though.. Maybe because she was only 18 months old at the time, but I've learned to never underestimate a SG. :D:

joanna71985 wrote:I don't have the GOH name badge. But I can't even begin to count the number of times I was in the parks (on my days off), and guests picked me out of the crowd to ask me a question! For example: I was sitting in Frontierland waiting for 2nd Spectro (in normal clothes) and I was asked questions by 2 seperate parties. I'm starting to wonder if I don't have WDW CM tatooed on my forehead.
And for the record, I did answer the questions. I'm a nice CM/day-off guest.
I get this all the time as well. I am not a CM, don't wear anything near a costume like clothing and I get asked questions all the time. I do have a GOH badge and a Princess badge which is Pink and shaped like a CM badge, but I don't wear them at the parks. I just like to collect pins and they are part of my pin collection. Disneymom got me my Princess Susi one! :) She rocks!Amphigorey wrote:That happens to me all the time! I don't have a GoH tag either, and I have no idea how people decide that I must know the answers to their questions. I've had guests at Epcot come up to me and ask for directions, people at the Magic Kingdom ask for park hours, and the like. The best was an older couple on one of the FriendShips who asked for restaurant recommendations. I was happy to share info, of course, but I was mystified how they knew I'd know!
Maybe we really DO have WDW CM tattoos. We just can't see them.
I guess I look I know what I am doing and have a sense of authority about me when I walk and do things. I know where I am going, I can tell you lots about DL and I guess that shows. It happens to me all the time. Maybe they sense the *future CM* sense about me... :D:

they sell them at disneyland...and i'm happy they do...we feel that since we know cm's names from their tags that it gives them equal time...as for other people asking how we got to be goh's we tell them exactly where we bought them and tell them how to get there...tell them the different places in the park that sell them and the different designs that they currently have and the price...they can also be made into keyrings or magnetsMs. Matterhorn wrote:That struck me as strange that you could BUY a GOH tag. so if anyone is looking for a goh name tag at dl they sell them just under the entrance bridge on the stroller rental side at the kiosk there (if they don't have your name they can make it for you right there...no nicknames though)...they also were selling them at the frontierland shop where you can get leather keyrings...i don't think they sell them at le petit chalet anymore (their machine for engraving the names kept breaking down)...i think they're $6.50 now

If I am going to play, it never fails that I will get stopped by someone within 15 minutes of getting on property. I really do think that we all have some kind of beacon that says "Ask me anything. If I don't know the answer, I'll find out"
