And that right there is why I am glad the Hat sets have changed. I never liked the round-robin type sets. In fact, I almost had my head bitten off yesterday because JoJo and Goliath left and people didn't want to see Manny (MAJOR shock there).EeyoresButterfly wrote: The worst that I ever had was at the Hat. At the Hat the characters round robin, so we typically do not have attendants with us when we walk to and from. One group figured out where the entrance to backstage was. They blocked it and prevented one of hte groups from getting off set. They actually held down Friar Tuck and tried to pull his head off. The person came back practically in tears.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

When a SG tried to use the line "Our friends are up there" to push past us in line, I used to use the retort "Well, if they were really your friends, they would have waited for you". At least until I realized that the remark was going over their heads...
Of course, then there was the time I was solo in line, spoke up and it turned out not to be line cutting, but rather a Guest doing the smart thing but in an odd way...
Was waiting in the Standby line for Soarin' last year during the time they were installing the interactive screens. So the Standby and FP Return were both on the FP side of the queue: Standby in what used to be FP, FP in what used to be the Singles line.
All of a sudden four young-20-somethings in fairly fancy clothes (dresses and sportcoats) walk right past us in the queue. I spoke up and said "Ummm, excuse me, but the line starts back there." The guy's reply "What? We're leaving!" Turns out, they *were* actually leaving the line, and were using one of the chains to get out rather than climb over the railings. But for some reason decided to push *forward* through the line (without saying anything to the people they're weaving past) to get to the one ahead of us, rather than go back through the line to one behind them... The guy seemed genuinely confused and annoyed that I said anything at all.

I forgot to mention that you need to have your elbows ready to take out any brazilian pins that get too close. Also walking with really heavy feet helps too.turkeyham wrote:I like the idea of bowling for Brazilians. I will have yo remember that for my trip. I wonder if that works on noisy cheer leaders?

Re: Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
I have to admit that they are just a tiny bit better this year. However, they still have a long way to go... I heard that last year an entire group had to be kicked out of Epcot for hitting several characters and being total beasts in attractions. Security had no choice after the complaints got too overwhelming. Tour guides have certainly been trying to get better, although there is also huge room for improvement.
What bothers me is that this year certain Hispanics groups have gotten into the same trend of the Brazilians. I had an incident two weeks ago with a group of them that wouldn't follow directions. :2team: When I repeated the directions in their language they got all huffy with me. Perhaps because they realize I understood their snide and rude remarks about me. Doing a line is not that difficult, and having consideration for others shouldn't be that hard of concept.

Why on the crowded weekends, do these SG stop in the middle of the walk ways? If the had a brain, wait no brains because they scream and chant too much. I wish someone in that group would have some common sence to move over. This happens all the time we visit in the summer time.
What is even worst, I have seen them approach the turkey cart in Frontierland and push the waiting guests over. The are rude. If I encounter another group and if the are out of control, I will flag down security and have them removed.

Re: Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
We ran into them in early July as well. We saw them EVERY day. UGH is all I can say. Loud, obnoxious, inconsiderate is what we experienced. We were at the shop at Star Tours and had a run in with one member of one of those groups. We were in line to buy something and this tour group had been in the shop for quite a while. The leader told them all it was time to go and as soon as she did one of the kids picked up a magnet and decided he had to have it right now. He came over and pushed us out of the way and waved money in the cashier's face. She was great, totally not phased she looks at us and says "you were next in line right?" and we said yes we were. She ignored the kid waving the money and asked us for our purchase. The kid was yelling at her I have to buy this now my group is leaving, I have to have it NOW. She continued the transaction with DH and smiled and was very pleasant. I have a feeling she was tired of the large group herd mentality too. If the young man had said nicely to us that his group had to leave we would have gladly let him go ahead of us, but the way he pushed us out of the way and the little regard he had for the CM bothered me and made me not inclined to be sympathetic to his situation.
We tried to maneuver around them whenever we could. We also had a group of them on our Jungle Cruise boat but they were very polite and pleasant. The only problem was that no one in that group spoke English and our poor skipper was trying so hard to carry on and tell her jokes. We made sure to laugh and interact with her so she wouldn't feel it was all in vain. She thanked us at the end of the tour through the jungle and said it is just so hard when you get an entire boat that doesn't understand you. Poor thing, she did a great job though..... never stopped smiling or lost her sense of humor.
This is the first trip where we have encountered this phenomenon.

Re: Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
I can't say I've encountered any Brazillian tour groups in my few trips to WDW but my college rented out space to a business called English First (EF). EF's a program for foreigners to come to NY to learn English for either a semester or a full school year. Most of the kids were very polite and respectful. Most of the Brazilian men on the other hand, had no respect for women. Keep in mind, they were at a women's college so the ratio of women to men is VERY high.reendan wrote: If the young man had said nicely to us that his group had to leave we would have gladly let him go ahead of us, but the way he pushed us out of the way and the little regard he had for the CM bothered me and made me not inclined to be sympathetic to his situation.
The Brazilian men would like to push us out of the line at the cafeteria and when one of us would speak up they would laugh and pat us on the head. I flipped out when one of them did cursing in Spanish and pulled back to swing. (I do mixed martial arts so I felt comfortable in taking him on) I was so pissed that the Dean of MY college told me that I needed to really understand that these pigs (they were acting like pigs) are unfamiliar to our ways. I told him that I should feel safe knowing that no man can put his hands on me with out my consent.
Then they had a contest with the Italian students to see who could pull the fire alarm the most times in one night. No one got any sleep, my college was severely fined, and those students were NOT deported.
Fordham ended up selling my college to...the EF program! I shudder to think about how they're ruining the wonderful 19th century architecture of the buildings there.
Re: Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
For some reason, this morning at DHS there was the highest ratio of tour groups that I've ever seen. Slews and slews of them everywhere! We're pretty much able to avoid them so it was no biggie, but when we were closed in the library at ToT we could literally hear them chanting while they were out in the line. I've never heard it that loud before. When we got out, we were right behind one of the groups (they were in both lines) and almost ended up riding with 'em, but I asked out bellhop for a "tour group-free elevator" and he totally understood and let us wait for the next one. He said, "Oh, you heard 'em, huh?" Other than that, they didn't really impact our day.
