Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
I know what we've said about the groups in the past, but so far this year has been different, in the areas I've worked. Whether on the Safari or in Monorails, you see them and hear them chattering as they walk by, but it's no more noise than any other hundred-or-so guests. No chanting, clapping, etc. I've also found that they are a great way to travel through a park... to get where you want to go faster, get lost in their crowd and follow them until you get to your exit... the Florida version of the EAC! What have your experiences been so far?
For me, though they don't understand much of what I say, it's been great on Monorails because I use them as an example... "Look, this group can get 90 people in one car, you can at least do 50!"

Perhaps the tour guides were told to tone it down?

Re: Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
Sadly, I've been subjected to plenty of clapping and chanting from them this year. And I've had a run-in even outside of WDW. We went to the Target at 535 and 192, and there was a tour bus full of matching-shirt Brazilians. I was over by a display of flavored coffee beans, the kind in dispensers that you bag and grind yourself. Some of Brazil's finest took a handful of beans, started checking on them, and then spit them all over the ledge under the dispensers, right onto the bags that people put their beans in. Did you inform the manager? That should've gotten them kicked out of there pronto. What is their problem?
Re: Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
I figured it would be my word against theirs, since no manager or worker was in close proximity and the group appeared to be preparing to drop a lot of cash. However, DH approached just as they were spitting and I said loudy, "Can you believe it? These pigs just put coffee beans in their mouths and spit them all over! Isn't that totally disgusting? Can you believe that people would be so gross and rude?" They can play that they don't understand English, but I know full well that most do (and the look they gave me confirmed it). I said it loud enough to where I hope it at least caused them some embarrassment so they won't pull something disgusting like that again (they probably will anyway, but hey, I can dream).

Re: Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
The main chanting I've heard is from only some of the groups while waiting for the parade or something. I haven't heard or seen any problems from them, which is wonderful.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

I am happy to report that for the 28th consecutive year, no Brazilian tour groups have bothered me here in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex :)

Re: Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
The Brazilians were nothing more than a pain in my ass when I was at WDW last week. I stayed at All Star Movies this trip and I was sandwiched between them. On one side, someone who was in the room would leave the door latched and wouldn't unlatch it when someone tried to get in. Then the person outside would just start slamming & pounding on the door until they opened it, which would be about 5-10 minutes later. On the other side, there would be a group talking, yelling and laughing at the top of their lungs till about 2am. While this was all going on, (I'm assuming) they'd be playing phone tag. One rooms phone would ring, then the other sides would, then the others would, then mine would. Since I was on the 3rd floor, I should've thrown them over.
As for the clapping and chanting, they did a lot of that too. There was a group waiting to get on Pirates. They were on the ramp that lead down to the CM and they started their chant/clap crap. A CM got on the PA and said there was to be "no excessive noise. In other words, be quiet." (Not verbatim, but it's close) The group just did it louder. Can someone tell me why they do that?

Re: Brazilian Tour Groups 2008
Yesterday I saw a big group about 50 of them. I thought at first they were in a YMCA day camp until I heard the could chants and screaming. You guys are right. Hopefully we I come out there in September, I hope not to come across them. You just have to see them trying to get something to eat, they push everyone out of the way. I have told security that they took cuts in front of us and the group was pulled away and lectured line cutting is not allowed. They all had the lost deer in the head lights expresson.
