I for one, don't tell guests to ride the SSR bus to get to DTD. I tend to direct them to their resort or to a non-DVD resort like POP. All resorts on property have a line item for transportation.

Membership in DVD does not allow you free bus service. If I recall properly, it is a charge per day per room. What DVD does entitle you to is different contracted bus service. Some DVD resorts have contracted 15 minute bus service and others have contracted for 30 minute service.

Disney provides transportation for ALL guests with paid admission to a theme park.

OOOOOPPPPS,

Long day and even longer night. But then again, doesn't DVC send out those DVD's to prospective owners??

Contracted bus service is just what it sounds like. The DVC resorts contract Disney Transport for bus service. The service level a resort like OKW or SSR gets is negotiated and will determine the fee that they pay for this service. More frequent contracted service levels mean more $$$ the owners pay in the maintenance fees.

Why yes they do. I suppose if you collect enuf of them you get an abbreviation change. LOL Hey I just remembered I have one of those on the shelf. Wonder what it's worth? Can I get a free nights stay for it? Will it get me a ride on the bus? or at least the little kiddy train at DTD? Better yet, can I trade it in for a ride on the Safari?

Ok, it is late, I am stressed and being stupid just to take my mind off things. Just smile and nod at the crazy lady and she will eventually go away, if the clowns dont eat me first.

Basically the DVC membership "buys" a specific piece of property. Not everybody who stays at any of the DVC resorts is a DVC member- my family stayed at SSR one time because it was the only place we could get the CM discount that night. It was a pretty amazing resort! I don't really think they consider the busses as part of what you are buying, the bus fleet is global, they don't have specific busses set aside for specific resorts. It's unfortunate that they are telling everybody to take the same exact bus, but in the end, you have to remember that these are part of a mass transit system, it is not a taxi service. (Sorry ,that's the spiel the CPs get at orientation when talking about the bus system there). If you want to get in and out quickly and have door to door service without fighting crowds, you will need to drive your car.

The only time I have done a park to DD transfer was when I was at MK. Walked over to the toaster, and hopped a bus there. It is SO SLOW!

In theory Typhoon is within walking distance of DTD. (At least the road to us shares the same traffic light as Parking Lot 5 entry for DTD.) Our parking lot, as DTD's is free.

If we have people who want to go to DTD (usually The Marketplace) we will usually give them two choices. One is take the bus to OKW which will then go to DTD and the other is take the SSR bus and then walk.

We also have suggestions for easiest access to major parks.

If someone asks for how to get to one of the parks one thing I will ask them is how they got to Typhoon. If they drove, I will just suggest to them they drive, but will still give them bus directions. Especially if they drove from off-property (and are trying to avoid the parking fee) I will suggest driving but I will not mention that once we are closed and the last Guest leaves our bus service stops.
