Why Tell DD visitors to take Saratoga Buses???

Post by sean1966 » Mon May 19, 2008 10:25 am

I am a DVC owner at Saratoga Springs Resort, lately I have been told that some CM's are telling people who want to visit DD to take the SSR buses, causiong these buses to overfill. As a portion of my dues pays for these buses I think it's wrong. This resort is mostly owned by DVC. Isn't there another way for these guests to get to DD?

DVC Members are not the only ones paying for the busses. They are also part of the parking fees at the parks and such. The only way to get to DD from any of the parks is to take a bus to a resort and then transfer to a bus going to DD. The other way is to drive your vehicle, if you have one from the parks to DD. Saratoga is the closest resort and is within walking distance of DD.

Hope this answers your questions

I don't know why anyone would voluntarily take a Saratoga buss who didn't have to... I much prefer to drive. The Northway express is no way to get to work... oh wait... :p:

Thanks, I'm not entirely sure that the SSR bus service recieves any revenue from the park tickets, but I'll look into it. The problem is we as owners, and our guests, are being put out by people trying to get to DD. It's a problem that is being brought up more and more. That and people parking at DD then hopping the SSR buses to the parks.

LOL....please dont get offended but....DUDE, take a ride on some of the other resorts buses and you will see them packed like sardines 90% of the time! TRAVEL TIP---Bring the can opener with you in your luggage
This is why we drive to and from places on property.

I dont think Yeti was saying that park tickets exclusively fund those buses. He/she (sorry yeti..not sure:D :) said "parking fees and such"

I have never ridden the SSR bus but Cranbiz or BW can correct me if I am wrong here ... Disney transportation is available to anyone (officially Disney resort and park guests) so since the SSR bus is part of that transportation then it also is open to anyone who wishes to ride it. Bus CM's???????

By your way of thinking, the only people who should ride a bus to POP Century resort should be guests of that resort since the person staying there pays for the room, therefore paying in part for that particular bus service. Nice idea in theory but how would it be enforced. Install scanners on the buses to scan your KTTK cards??? you know they will be breaking down every day. What about the folk who want to visit a resort for meals or shopping? Disney is not going to tell them NO...we dont want your money. ETC

I am a DVC owner at SSR also. I don't have a problem with guest using that bus to get to DTD. I have even told people how to get there using that bus. DVC membership doesn't pay for the transportation as far as I know. I would rather get on a crowded bus than have to wait 20 minutes for the next one. Sorry transport guys and gals. No offense :)

Hey acourt, what is a good place for me to use my CS free DDP credits at SSR? We have some time next trip to explore and want to go just ride around on the buses and water transport to see some other areas of the property. ;) Plus right now I am super hungry and desperately need a Disney fix.

If you are at SSR, the only counter service they have is the Artist Palette. It's really good flatbread pizza, sandwiches and these home made potato chips that are to die for. YUMMO. They also have dinner platters. You can take the boat from DTD to SSR.

OOOO...that sounds good. Now I am even more hungry. LOL Cool, hop skip and jump for us this fall since we will be at POFQ (maybe switching to cheaper if available) and we want somewhere differnt to go for CS meals. If we do switch we will just drive over to DTD and go from there.

In the past, people headed to DTD were told to take the Saratoga Springs bus and get off at Congress Park or the Springs.

The rule is that drivers are supposed to say to transfer through your resort, meaning guests go to whatever resort where they're staying, then transfer there. If not staying on Disney property, then technically they can't get a ride to DTD, but I don't think anyone ever checks... that's like the monorail and watercraft. I've never heard of anyone checking. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, though...

As for your DVC membership paying for that bus... yes and no. Actually, each resort pays for a certain share of the bus service, based on factors I don't know, as I haven't seen them.
