Ummm, we did, Giselle is a princess, by her not marrying the prince, she will not be a queen! But she is still a princess.

(when the current queen dies, (which she did, in her Dragon persona) and the prince becomes the King, and his wife will be the queen.)

Did they officially say she was a princess in the film? I thought she was just a maiden.

Isn't there a line in the film in which the little girl asks if Giselle is a princess, and she replies, "I'm not a princess, but soon will be.' or something of the like.
Because I have an Enchanted document binder that says, 'Princess Wannabe' on it.

They refer to her as a princess here in the snyop:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0461770/

Of course, they could be referring to the generic idea that ALL women believe that they are princesses (in training)

hehehe

Maybe she does not know she is a princess? Unless there are some loose end in the film I might be missing - my binder maybe means something else. We had the same talk at work about how they want to put Giselle in the princess line up, but like Mulan and Pocahontas - they are not real Princesses.

I remember that line too....Giselle isn't a princess but Lauren did become a princess when she married Edward at the end of the movie. :)

And Mary Poppins is part of the "princess list" too, isn't she?

Yes, all the female face characters tend to get lumped into the same category.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Time for a Disney Trivia Pop Quiz!!!

Disney has long had an ambiguous definition of "princess".

Can you name the three "princesses" who took part in the ceremonial opening of the original Fantasyland on 17 July 1955?

And no, Alice isn't one of them.

Are you sure of that? I just checked the video and at the opening ceremony there was a tableau with four characters. One made an obvious yawn so I expect that to be Sleeping Beauty (Princess Aurora). One was obviously dressed as Snow White. One was obviously Peter Pan (but HE wouldn't appreciate being classed as a princess). The fourth had the hair style of Alice and so I thought it was her. But the teaser prior to the break before the opening ceremony mentioned Snow White, Cinderella and Peter Pan by name. One last possible person was dressed as a princess and danced around waving a wand so I am suspecting this is supposed to be Cinderella's Fairy Godmother.

So, even tho I think that Alice was one of the characters represented, but using your clue that Alice was not included in your accounting, I will say Snow White, Cinderella and Princess Aurora (aka Sleeping Beauty). But I will put in for an honorable mention to Someone who looks like Alice, White Rabbit, Peter Pan and Capt Hook. I will also mention there was a very short shot of someone who may have been Wendy.

Hows that for covering the bases. :D:
