There are gators in the rivers around the MK. I've heard of ones having to be relocated or killed for living in the Rivers of America, making them a threat. Gators also live in the river that flows behind the park (the green one seen from the train). My understanding is that sometimes they'll come up and investigate the steam being dumped into the river during the morning tests of the safety devices on the trains (the spur line goes right over the river).

I once saw a gator on the 12th hole of the Magnolia Course, not one mile from the Magic Kingdom. And, I hit my ball in the water! Guess I wasn't going in to fish that ball out

Last time we were there (a month ago) we had some raccoons get into our golf cart on the 8th hole at the Palm Course and look for food! They're probably well-conditioned to do it with all the golfers coming by with snacks. Luckily, I hadn't had my delicious Disney golf hot dog yet, and they left empty-handed. (Or empty-pawed?)

I've seen deer, wild turkeys, and other random animals all over the property. It's a part of being on vacation! People who get freaked out over things like that when they're on vacation need to get over themselves.

I live in the city so I don't see a whole lot of wild animals other than birds. Though, the town I walk through that's next door to me (Brookline) had an invasion of wild turkeys roaming the sidewalks last fall...

When we moved to Celebration, we actually got two documents as a part of our home contract that we had to initial. One was on living with gators and the other was all about snakes (none about roaches tho'). I thought that was overkill until I was watching the news one night and it featured some woman ranting that all lakes in Florida should have fences around them. She moved into some waterfront subdivision, let little Fifi run too close to the edge, and the fluffball ended up as a gator snack. The woman was so indignant: "How can the gators just be right out there where they could jump out and eat a kid? I'm starting a campaign to get all these lakes fenced off for our protection." I doubt that got very far.

We saw five wild turkeys strutting their stuff by the little walkway from the parking lot to TTC - totally unperturbed by everything around them.

We don't call them "wild turkeys" here. We prefer the term "management team".

When I worked at Knott's, in Camp Snoopy there were mallard ducks (one of my co-workers found a duckling that got seperated from its mama and took it home), a snowy egret, a turtle, an American Coot, and once while running Charlie Brown Speedway for New Year's, a possum came running out--fortunately the ride was not running at the time!

So the management team at WDW is a bunch of wild turkeys, eh, Zazu? At Knott's, it was all JACKASSES! :twisted:
