DMom, don't feel too bad. Sometimes it's that tap that gets a kids attention and straightens them back up. If not maybe it clues in Mom and Dad that it's time to head back to the hotel.DisneyMom wrote:Good Parenting on your part! :)
I got hit HARD on my arm by a 4 year old who had some sort of hyper-excitement at Space Mountain fastpass area Sunday. I said, "Excuse me, that's my arm!"
To Dad's credit, he tried to make youngster apologize.Youngster kept going and ended up getting butt tapped. I felt a little bad he ended up getting spanked, but maybe Dad had enough by that point!

This is the quote of the year, both because it is so brilliant in it's simplicity, and because it's infuriating that it actually has to be said at all.David R wrote: Often small kids like this one don't quite know right from wrong in unfamiliar situations (and WDW has plenty of those.) It's the parents' job to teach their kids. Laughing at your kid as he or she does something wrong is not good parenting.

Re: Mean/Rude kids
I always say my children spread joy at Walt Disney World - sometimes it's by their sweet behavior, sometimes it's by our leaving when a meltdown is about to occur. For a while, my youngest had a habit of yelling "I want a nap!" as I was wheeling them out of the MK - I felt like I should yell "He's lying! We'll get back to the hotel and he won't sleep at all!". At any rate, it was undoubtly time to call it a day, at least for awhile.
At any rate, I've never understood why you'd keep a toddler who is OBVIOUSLY at the limit of his tiny little endurance in the park, screaming and crying. Um, that's no fun for anyone. Same thing with keep your kids up late in the parks or even worse, Pleasure Island. There are so many fine babysitting services, why not use them and REALLY enjoy yourself. (Not to mention making things better for everyone else.) I feel for the comatose babies and toddlers you see being dragged around after dark. My sister-in-law has a belief that they have to do EVERYTHING together, no matter who is miserable.

I have a similar story...when my son was 2, he was playing in one of those backyard bouncy houses (4th of July Party). There was a 7 year old...much larger, causing all of the kids to cry at different times. My son was never one to back away from trouble. At one point, the 7 year old bully went to his mom crying. Another kid came over and said, "Peter hit him in the face". My husband and I gave each other a "Good for him look", but then called Peter over to feign a scolding. We told him it's never OK to hit someone in the face. He very firmly replied, "I DIDN"T hit him in the face". We retorted, "Peter, you did, now stop fibbing!". "I DIDN"T!" "Olivia told us you hit him in the face, and you know hitting is wrong". "I DIDN"T HIT HIM IN THE FACE!!!"..."Peter, enough with the story telling, we know you hit him in the face. Why else is he crying?" "I DIDN"T hit him in the face! I PUNCHED him in the HEAD!" LOLSWTexasBelle wrote:When my youngest (Liam) was 2 1/2, we were working in preschool on him using his words when he had a problem - in other words, don't clock the kid who takes your toy! We were at the Splash Mountain play area, and these two brothers were bullying younger kids. Liam went to look at the pressed quarters machine, and a 5 or 6 year old kid came and pushed him down. Liam hauled off and smacked him good. I of course went up and told him we do NOT hit, and made him apologize (not that the parent of the bully made him do the same :rolleyes :) but inside I was happy that he had given that kid a taste of his own medicine.
I guess he told us!

Our days at WDW start early and end quite late...however, mid-day there is ALWAYS a NAP! We all need one. Makes for a very enjoyable vaca

What about everyone taking a NAP together??? I am all for the afternoon siesta. Days at WDW are jam packed. We start very early, and end late. Mid-day naps are a must for the kids... and quite honestly, for the us as well! Makes for a far more enjoyable vacation!!! :D:I feel for the comatose babies and toddlers you see being dragged around after dark. Re: Mean/Rude kids
My girls ( now 18 and 15) would take a nap - but my boys ( 6 and 5) always fall asleep on the way to the hotel, and once in the hotel go nuts. So, for the most part, we just make an early evening of it. If we are going to do something like see the fireworks I'll try a little harder to get them to nap, but our usual routine is to have the babysitter come around 6:30 and my 18year old and I go to the Adventurer's Club. This trip we will take the boys to see "Fantasmic!" but that's going to be their only late night.

Heck yeah! We have to take naps, and do not have kids. The Parks tire us out! And we are old...LOL! ;)BIG Dizfan wrote:What about everyone taking a NAP together???

Naps just make you feel better and rested and ready to go again. I LOVE naps. I take em here at home too, as does Ralphie. It makes the day go by more smoothly if you are rested and a little half hour nap is a great refresher. Besides lying down is GREAT for my back. It can only help if I rest my legs and back.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Re: Mean/Rude kids
We tried taking a nap once mid-day at All Star Music. First the maid came to clean the room (we forgot to put out the do not disturb sign). Fell back asleep just long enough to get into dream mode and the phone rang. It was my son, who was driving up from a meeting in Tampa and was going to meet us for dinner later. We gave up on our naps and went back to the park feeling groggy. I don't think we've napped at WDW since then.
