Top SG reasons "I MUST go to the front of the line":

1. I (my family member) am pregnant and can't stand in line.

2. I have acne which is a disability and so by the ADA I must go first.

3. I have a blister on my foot and can't stand.

4. My child is younger than all the others and so should go first.

5. I'm spending lots of money and so I get to go first.

6. I'm about to leave and this is the only thing I HAVE to do. The fact that I didn't do it for the entire prior week has no value in this discussion.

Anyone else have additions?

Some reasons: security told me that I couldn't bring in my own cooler. My son/daughter was told that they couldn't jump on the floats in the parade.

I am sure they are plenty of otehr ones.

I wouldn't think the CMs would do that, just nice doormat guests who let other's take advantage of them. People need to grow a backbone and not let the *entitled thinking* get away with it. If everyone stopped them in their tracks, they would not get away with ANYTHING anymore. That sucks, because when doormats do let them get their way, you are right, it just reinforces the behavior and then someone else has to deal with that assinine behavior later when they try it again. I would let them know what I think of their behavior, short of an actual fistfight. They definitely would know that their behavior was being pointed out to them! :twisted: I would not do anything to jeopardize anyone's safety or risk getting thrown out of the Park, but you can be sure they would hear my sneering voice in their head the rest of the day! :twisted:

Ok, so today I had to laugh. While going through EPCOT around 2 or so, I decided to go on Spaceship earth. As the line was not really that long I was supprised to hear a woman arguing with a cast member at the exit. As I was getting off I overheard the woman tell the CM that she was unable to wait in line because she was pregnant. To this the CM who was assisting guests off (who was also visably pregnant) stopped what she was doing, and walked over tho the woman and said "Mame, if I can work on my feet for eight hours, you can stand for ten minutes." It gave me the best laugh I've had all week.

You left out an obvious one. People from other parts of the world have different concepts regarding waiting in lines. I have a book titled "Gestures", which explains body language and related customs worldwide. When I was working at Knott's, and was doing Huff 'N' Puff, there was an Italian family whose kids kept cutting in line ahead of the others. I told the parents that they weren't supposed to cut in line, and the parents, apparently either not understanding the term or were applying their home customs to the U.S., said they weren't cutting. I went home and looked up the part on standing in lines in Italy, and sure enough it said Italians don't wait in lines, they just all shove their way to the front, devil-take-the-hindmost. They spoke good English, but I guess like I said they didn't understand the colloquialism. I knew they were Italian from the names they gave their kids.

That's true of a lot of non-US cultures. It's a challenge in the parks since we're dealing with visitors and not permanent residents. I have no problem insisting that a permanent resident to my country follow the fold so to speak and take up our cultural norms, at least in public, but expecting a short time visitor to completely acclimate overnight is not reasonable. I think sometimes as CMs we figure SG when in fact the guest is just suffering from culture shock. It's hard to weed out the ones who really DO have a higher than normal sense of entitlement, or really ARE SGs from those who just keep forgetting they're not in kansaszistan anymore!
