Ralph won't let me get a gun. I love target shooting and have a good friend who has guns, so if I want to go I have to go with him. I think Ralph is afraid because I have Womenopause! I am actually a very good shot and enjoy shooting targets, like Sssssssss Geeeeeees, just kidding.... :p:

My now 70-year-old dad got his concealed carry permit a few years back. When he first brought up the idea with my mom, she stunned him by saying she wanted one too!

I feel very safe around them, needless to say.

When DW and I were first married, we went to a range, and I let her try the various weapons(GUNS) I had, she was pretty good with almost every caliber. the .40 gave her some problems, but it has a more "hardy" recoil. Her favorite was a small frame 9mm. easier to get a good grip, not much recoil.

Noting wrong with know how they operate, and how to make them safe!!

Personally, I like more medieval weapons. I know how to use a sword, mace, that sort of thing. I can also shoot a crossbow pretty well, I don't own one however. Longbow, is another story, but I probably still shoot better than the average person.

Yeah those are cool, but like I tell my trainees, "nothin funnier that someone bringing a knife to a gunfight!"

I must admit a mace would come in handy during an interview!!

I used to shoot with bow and arrow, till I took a blunted one in the eye, that kind of help me loose my enthusiasm (owwweeeee!!)

Yes, but I know a story of a mace beating a gun. Of course, I don't think the person with the gun realized the person had a weapon.

Basically, I am in a group that re-creates the middle ages (SCA, I know some of you know of it, and also already know that I'm in it) so one lady in our group had gotten a new mace and brought it to her sister's to show off. The main reason for her visit was that her sister had just divorced her husband and she was a little freaked out being alone. So during the night, the ex (or maybe it was in process and soon to be ex, not sure) husband comes in with a gun and apparently intent on killing his wife, the sister who is asleep on the couch wakes up, her mace was sitting out on the table, she grabs it, swings at him and breaks his thigh in 14 places. He didn't even get a shot off.

Then there's another story of a group going to or from an event in New York, some gangbangers surround them, take out their knives, and start threatening them. Well, this group simply pulled out their swords and the gangbangers took off (what do you know, smart gangbangers exist :)

WOW, thats amazing. Knowing California law about slungshots, and NY law about blade length, how does that work. do you get a permit?
