Do I dare ask the difference between a right type of flasher and a wrong type?

Good Flasher (if you are a man) :flasher:
Bad Flasher (Flash Bulb) :light:

You think a grown man would know about good and bad flashers.

You want to see some guy flash you his bone? Very well, but don't say you weren't warned.

OMG when we were at Pirates last month we could barely see anything most of our trips through- they just kept the damned flash bulbs going off I swear to god this one time I wanted to send this guys' camera swimming accidentily on purpose by hitting it with my crutch.

I have visual issues- cataracts and missing fields of vision and all that are lovely parting gifts from past medical issues. When people shoot off cameras during the fireworks, it pretty much ruins the rest of the show for me. Even worse, if I'm exposed to certain flashing light patterns, I get instant, and serious, migraine headaches. But more on that in a minute.

We were watching illuminations at the handicapped viewing area near Canada (we had the BEST Cm there working security, we went back to visit with him the second night we saw the show too and we left a note about him with guest services before we left the park he was so great) and he was really good about asking people to sit down who were with wheelchair groups.

Now here's a great SGT for you.

You know that you have bad knees. So when the security person tells you that you have to sit down once the show starts, you ignore him. Until the show actually starts and he says to you, "I'm sorry, you have to sit down you're obstructing the view of everyone behind you' and then the guest says angrily "But I can't sit down, I have bad knees!" like this is the first time they've heard it!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!!!

Back to the visual impairment issues, we were all settled in for the show, our kick-ass CM made sure no one was standing in front of me. Illuminations has a very special meaning to our family, it's a story too sappy for this board probably but it's very emotional for me and my father to see it together. He hadn't been to WDW with us in four years. So this show was a huge deal to us.

RIGHT after it starts, some family with no one in the handicapped section, sends two girls about 8 years old into the area under the rope. They stand RIGHT in front of my chair, and they turn on those horrible (!(*^~&*(% flashing tinkerbell/buzz lightyear flashing things they sell all over the park. Can I tell you, I instantly got a migraine so bad I almost lost my dinner immediately? I couldn't find the CM and I had no way to get out of the area in the dark and I really didn't want to be sick on the people ahead of me so I say to the girls, "I'm sorry, girls, but I have really bad eyes, could you please turn off the flashing lights?" and these brats give me a look like they want me to vaporize, and they disappear behind my husband (who had moved to the back to stand by the rail so he wouldn't obstruct anyone else's view) he told me afterward that they came over by him and kept the damned things on the WHOLE show.

WTF do they let people use those during the shows for? I swear if it'd been a motorized wheelchair I was in, it'd have been tempting to accidentily run over their new toys.

It SUCKS to be in a park in a chair. It just sucks.

Courage in your own.

Monorail CoPilot,
Man. what brats. So many of the kids have NO manners.

I was thinking about what you said about it sucking to be in a chair in the Parks. I am so sorry. I know that I may end up in a chair someday and I am so messed up over it and I am not even in one yet. I have really bad nerve problems in my back and the neurology guys at Kaiser say they cannot do anything about it. It just keeps getting worse over time and there are times now when I can't walk more than an hour or sit even and I HAVE to lie down, so I know I may even need to rent a chair in Dec at DL.
Shit, I am crying now, for you and me and all those that have to endure things that make us unable to live our lives normally. It sucks so bad that we cannot do the things we used to do, the way we used to do them without always asking for help or getting around without a chair or a cane. I cannot imagine it, yet I know it may be coming for me too. If they cannot fix my back, I am screwed. I will HAVE to learn to be in a chair. I am sending hugs your way, big warm bear hugs because I don't know what else would help. I know I like hugs, :) , so maybe they will give you a little bit of a smile too...
