I have NOT.

I don't think it was the high point of their vacation. I think it was more of taping it so that they can reminisce (darph: remember) their Disney vacation, and pretend they are at Disney when they are at home waiting for their next trip. :notallthe

Well, since the cavemen are getting their own sitcom this season I expect Geico to come up with another campaign.

I hope it does not include small animals. Like the one with the two squirrels.

OK Now, when was the last time anyone drove off the road to avoin hitting a squirrel? Not me, in fact I would just paint another squirrel on the truck. 1 more and I'll be an ace! :D:

puglears I didn't know where to put this so I thought here it fit. Must rant! puglears

First off I mean no disrespect to guest who have dissabilities. I feel their pain and if it's on my hands I do what I can to help them. However I do not make the rules in Disney. Characters lines have their 'alternative entrance' thru the regular line. Which means that our regular line is the weelchair entrance.

I had a guest yell at me non-stop for about 5 minutes, about how he was going to report me for not letting him thru to see the characters. Over and over I explained to him that our stand by entrance is the line for everybody. Still he would not listen because he just could not wait in that long line. Well I'm sorry but I can't do anything and those are the rules that Disney put in and like it or not I have to enforce them and you have to follow them.

It bothers me that lately more and more people flashed their GAC demanding to see the characters, while not making the line. Then when they are told that they have to make the regular line they make a huge scene demaning managers and threatening to complaint at Guest Relations. I have gotten to the point, where I go ahead and encourage them to go ahead and make a complaint. I work for a living and those are the rules that they insist I follow, no matter what. If you don't like them, then go ahead and complaint. Work for the rules to be change, and I'll go ahead and follow those rules instead. In the mean time either do the line or go away. Yelling at me won't get you anywhere.

Another thing that bothers me is when parents trash kids around for being afraid of a character. I had a guy being very offensive to his kid for being afraid of Mickey. I was in doubt, if I should intervine because that's not my child, but finally I just lost my patience and asked him to let me try. It took me several minutes to calm him down and then get him to see Mickey. It broke my heart to see, how shaken up the little guy was. A complete ordeal just because they 'pay a lot of money to come here.' Yes, we are all aware of how much money you payed to be here, but for once I wish some of these people would just try to be patient with their children. Mickey is quite a big 'mouse' and your 2 year old hardly reaches his waist. Wouldn't you be afraid of a giant?

The amount of times I see parents pushing and grabbing kids (to the point of almost hurting them) to force them to do stuff just test my patience to an in-humane level. I understand that they want them to do different stuff and that's fine with me. I can even relate to a point. However I have found that 99.99% of the times, talking with their littles ones just works better. Sometimes they are just not ready, and I understand you don't know when you are coming back, but which is more important: your child's mental health or a few dollars?

There are tons of things to do at the park and if people would just relax and do a little bit of planning they would find that they can still have a very nice time, even if they don't do everything. Perhaps they are not ready to give Mickey a hug, but maybe they can wave a goodbye or throw a kiss. Simple gestures to get them use to the presence of characters. It tests every bit of my, usually long, patience when I see parents pushing screaming kids towards a ride or a character. Then there is no way on earth that I can get them to even wave at the character.

Some parents are worst than children. In fact lately, scarily often btw, I see children behave better than their parents. Now that IS scary!

Thanks for letting me vent.

In my experience working at Strollers, wheelchair guests who were elderly or truly disabled made the least amount of fuss when it came to wheelchairs/ECVs. They were also the ones most willing to wait in line, so long as that line was wheelchair accessible. I heard of numerous SGs who would cite the ADA as their reason why they shouldn't have to wait in line. Well, folks, the ADA requires equal accommodation for the disabled, not superior accommodation as these SGs wanted. The folks who believe they shouldn't have to wait in line are the ones who are simply there to take advantage of the system and ruin it for the people it was intended for.

I've said numerous times on this board that it used to piss me off when we ran out of wheelchairs because of so many people taking advantage of the system, and we had to put people with broken legs and 80 year old grandmas on the waiting list.

I agree that people with true disabilities are the ones who don't expect special treatment, while the dubious ones wear their "entitlement" expectation in neon on their forehead. Two recent cases in point:

Riding the monorail, DH and I had a seat while a family with a disabled member boarded. I offered my seat multiple times, but they adamently refused. I really felt bad, since I could tell it would have been easier for the disabled person to be sitting than balancing.

On the flipside, I saw a family with a GAC bragging to another group about how easy it is to get by just saying the right thing and how Guest Services can't ask for proof. And on top of that, they had the nerve to complain about the length of the FP line...they felt they shouldn't have to wait at all. If I had a magic wand, I would have waved it and they would have instantly changed life circumstances with that family on the monorail. Let them see how much they'd love that GAC if they REALLY needed it.

It is tie for us to group hug Tinkerbell.

The parents too often use their kids as a surrogate for themselves. Sometimes people use pets or even inanimate objects as a surrogate. They wanted to be a baseball star, prom queen, or cellist. In a situation they would walk right up to the character and dance and play with it. They would ring the damned bell on kiddie ride and they would drive the vehicle on the kiddie ride.

It does not matter that Junior does not want to play baseball, does not want to pretend he is driving a ride vehicle or scared to dearth of large moving thing like Mickey. It does not matter that a kid's view is different from an adults or that an adult knows a ride is safe but to a kid they could die from a fall from Dumbo. Dumbo is safe to an adult but for a kid that is very high and in their mind scary.

Too many parents and others around kids will forget the kids and live in their dream world. If a CM or guest interferes then the kid's family might throw a hissy fit or expect the kid to buck up and be brave.
