What, so you think the heads of a criminal conspiracy have their names and phone numbers on the flyers?

And wouldn't you think that putting their employees in jail every time they're caught might be a signal to knock it off?

Let's be clear on something. This isn't the local Dominos trying to rustle up business. This is a scam operation that takes your order and credit card number, then goes straight to WalMart and buys things they can fence for cash. There never is any pizza.

Unless that's what the criminals go buy with your money.

Now wouldn't that be the ultimate arrogant scam.. using the stolen numbers for Disney charges! How many vistems would never notice the extra charge for a 7 day hopper buried among the meals at Chef Mickeys and toys from the emporium on their statement? Especially the way that resort room charges are billed intermittently during your stay, whenever the card charges hit a predetermined trigger point!

I've reported these folks before to the front desk. It usually takes about 30 seconds. The Cast Member didn't mind that I called, either.

I used to handle a lot of fraud prevention / detection, and the flyers usually have several red flags (one often being no street address of the person).

That is a very good point. I never thought about looking for that. I get door flyers at my house all the time. I know many are legit and I always try and support local small bussiness but I think I need to make sure I look for a street address first to make sure they are legit

Definitely a good idea. It'd be interesting for someone to call and ask if they can go and pick up their order, or if they really are "delivery only". That'd be another red flag. I'm assuming the phone number is not a landline but is instead a prepaid cell phone or something else that's difficult to track and can be "thrown away".

Of course, the scammer will now have your phone number if you used your cell phone, and you'll just be set up for the next scam they come up with. Best to avoid that strategy, unless you're using Google Voice or something similar.

I believe that these frauds normally target hotels and the like, not private residences, as tourists are a lot less likely to realize something's amiss until it is to late and won't know what places are around that are real. Of course, it does pay to be careful.

If you're traveling and want something to eat ask the front desk of the hotel what they recommend, they'll know the real places and being locals they'll be more likely to know the local places that have good food. No matter where you're staying, at Disney or elsewhere, it would be a good idea to report flyers being stuffed under your door, I would think most hotels frown upon that kind of thing (except maybe the el-cheapo places) as it wouldn't do their own reputation any good if their guests are getting defrauded regularly.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

I for one applaud these heroic, "Robin Hood" type pizza joints for going up against the greedy, evil empire that is Disney by offering pizza "cheaper than room service!"

If it were just that, I could applaud them as well (when off-duty).

But these scammers are "steal from the rich -- then keep it!" Not in the spirit of Sir Robin at all. :robinhoo:
