Thank you and from I read and have heard that is what the general rule of thumb is. If there is no warnings then tape away.

My list is a general list of reasons. Disney corporate management decides what is allowed and what is not allowed. Each level of management then decides if they really want to enforce something. Alien Encounters was one attraction that had heavy handed enforcers while other attractions have little or no enforcement of existing rules. One lead may demand all videotaping be stopped while another will not care a bit. Even CMs may enforce rules differently.

I thought DL and/or WDW had on the brochures a remark that there was no videotaping in dark rides but I only have a 1998 AK brochure on my right now.
I hit my eye pretty hard with the viewfinder while taping Pirates in WDW in 1998. I was used to DL and figured there would be a drop then a smooth trip until the boat stacked up in line at the exit. OUCH not so.

Okay, do I take the obvious opening here? If I don't someone will. So I will say what must be said.

If you do that, do they then call it "Honey, I Shrunk The <CENSORED>?

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

and Country Bear Jamboree, in the end scene.

Flash pictures also ruin the magic for other guests. While you might have ridden POTC for the millionth time, there might be one guest in your boat that has never ridden it.

I saw some pics on a thread on board X and it was obvious use of flash on POTC. That would annoy the crap out of me. I took pics, but turned off the display and used my 50mm f/1.8 (lowest aperture lens I own) and I was only happy with 1, maybe 2 pics I took.

Agreed.

On our last trip, we were backed up for about 20 seconds right in front of the last scene with Jack Sparrow. You would have thought that Paris Hilton and Lindsay Blowhan were standing there completely naked or something from all the flashes.

I just shook my head, and used 1200 ISO with the 1.8 apature on my D70s.

I think I was at 1600, but I just have the Rebel XTi. My wife won't sign off on a Mark III yet :)

The rules seem to change over time (or at least they did on the cruise line). In the early days, they didn't say anything about no videotaping, and they even let Mr. Syndrome sit in a chair on an area at the back of the theater that doesn't exist anymore so he could get a clear shot. Now they say "No videotaping" although they don't seem to enforce it (and don't even get me started on the flash photography rule-breakers...I will say something if they are near me, but problem is sometimes it seems to be half the freakin' theater).

Usually anything above 1200 gets a little noisy, but it depends on your camera.
