But I must admit that I chuckled at the two fire trucks hitting each other.. I'm mean, what are the odds..

Re: Red Light Runners
A guy I was in the Army with was a San Jose fireman. His company was on the way to a fire when their fire engine was t-boned by a truck hauling chickens. He, and three other firemen were killed. :(

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Re: Red Light Runners
Just got around to actualy wathing the video...
I have to say now that seeing people run reds with people already stopped in front of them is scaring the crap out of me. I had rarely considered the possibility of being rear ended so hard at a red light that I wind up in the intersection, which is funny because I think of that every time I'm waiting to make an unprotected left (they tell you in Drivers ed that you should always keep the wheel straight till you can turn while making a left, in case you get rear ended, so you don't get t-boned too.)
SCARY.

Re: Red Light Runners
Actually, I know the story behind that. It was an error in communication between the trucks. They were both heading to a fire.JugglingFreak wrote:But I must admit that I chuckled at the two fire trucks hitting each other.. I'm mean, what are the odds..

Thats what I figured. I thought they both were on response, but I wasn't sure. (Am I mistaken, or were those both LA County Ladder Companies?)Freak wrote:Actually, I know the story behind that. It was an error in communication between the trucks. They were both heading to a fire.

Re: Red Light Runners
I remember when mom was still alive, we'd be out driving and she's come up on a yellow light, and she'd floor it. I'd react, and she'd laugh at me and tell me to relax. I mean, come on mom, we know you're on your way out, but really! Add to the fact that when we were back east, right after my grandfather passed away, we were on our way to a restaurant for a meal, and my stupid cousin was with us, it was raining, and all of a sudden my stupid cousin tells mom to turn, and we got t-boned by an elderly couple. My side of the car was hit; the car that hit us bounced back, then hit us again. My spine from the neck to my waist hurt for weeks afterward, but I was too upset to go to the hospital. To this day I can't turn my head to the right as far as I can to the left. And yeah, for years afterwards, I got tense whenever a car came up on us from the right.

Re: Red Light Runners
I've been in the situation where I'm hitting the solid stop lines as it's going to yellow (Or I'm half through the intersection when it turns yellow), and nine times out of ten I think "Well, let's see who hits me first". If I'm coming up on that solid line, my breaks are wicked good and I figure "It's coming from the back"
I was laughing more than anything at this video. Some of the crashes were just. . . Wow. How could someone manage to do that?

Yeah, I know what you mean. The one at Harbor and Westminster is pretty amazing. In the "how did that guy avoid a Darwin Award" sense, I mean.IndyandMarion wrote: I was laughing more than anything at this video. Some of the crashes were just. . . Wow. How could someone manage to do that?

^ I THOUGHT THE SAME THING! That was one of those one-in-a-million shots right there.
I just hope he doesn't try to repeat it.. =\
Oh and by the way, the firetruck collision occurred in St. Louis.
Oh, and how about the pickup truck that just randomly head-ons the pole? That one was like the biggest WTF one I saw in the video.

Re: Red Light Runners
Other morning after getting off, I was going by the 535 turn, and somehow a car had hit the lightpole. Even more amazing, there were no fewer than four FHP cars there. Even more amazing, I had driven by the location less than half an hour earlier and so knew the FHP had arrived quickly.
