Ack. It looks like we can group these into a few classes:
  • General Inattentiveness
Most, if not all, of the cars are stopped at the intersection. Then, one car comes barreling down the road and smashes a stopped car, or worse a pedestrian. I've seen a few of these in person. It's usually just not paying attention to the road. And its never pretty.
  • The "I can make it!" Scenario
One light is just turning red, while the other side is getting their green. Traffic starts to flow, save for that one car on the red light side, who has made the decision to floor it. Two things happen, he either BARELY makes it, or he nails a car that has started across the path. The window has closed for any other correction on the situation, and the "I can make it!" has turned into the "Oh crap I just rammed a car."
  • The Random Lane Change
For some reason, the car changes lanes from straight to left turn, but the left turn is protected, and the left turn light is red. Still, the car decides to turn left like it was an unprotected left hand turn, and the driver that has the green the other way has moments to react, probably using those few moments to go "WTF!?" Crash occurs.

Either way, all aboard the Failboat!

I love that in at least half of them there's the flash of the camera right before impact. It's like a flash goes off and everyone's like what the heck is that? crash! I also love the one with the two firetrucks.

My favorite was when I lived in Alexandria, VA.

I was in the left lane of a one-way street that was not a mandatory turn lane. I had as vague suspicion and waited a couple of seconds after the light turned green, which was good as the person in the right lane made a left turn directly in front of me.

I let the person know I was very unhappy as I laid on my air horns that were installed.

I then waited a couple of second more, and a second car turned in front of me. But that one turned on his roof lights to have a talk with the driver of the first car.

Scenario #4 for red light runners:
  • 2am in the morning, no one else on the road, half asleep and doesn't realize the light is red till their thru the intersection... if at all. Maybe winds up wondering "Did I just run a red?"
Don't drive drowsy kids!!!

What's cheesing me off lately is coming out of my apartment complex there's a light, and folk out on the main road keep taking right on red as if I'm not coming across the road on the green.

I'm in the left motherfucking lane.

You should never cut off the person with the green IN THE LEFT HAND LANE, while making right on red!!! Don't DO THAT.

Love the idiot who set that one car on fire. Is it just me when i think that when someone causes major damage to someone else's vehicle that they in turn should be liable to buy them a brand new car? And, granted, I was in two accidents but none for running a red light.
