If the mental floss doesn't help try some Milk of Amnesia Stout Ale. I bet Darph would swear by it.

Make sure you get the right protection for your idea.

A patent protects an invention, including processes. It has to be reduced to practice before you can file and there's a one year deadline to file after you first offer it for sale or announce it to the public.

A copyright protects written text, music or images but not inventions. Technically you own a copyright on anything you write, paint, photograph, draw, etc from the moment you create it, although putting a copyright on it. Proving it can be another matter...

Ideas, as long as they stay in your head, are impossible to protect. The guy who invented the telephone at the same time Bell did didn't take his invention seriously. Bell got to the patent office hours ahead of him, and he found out too late how stupid he was not to have taken his invention more seriously. He thought it was just a gimmick, but Bell believed in the future of the telephone. Look at your ideas, etc., the same way, and you won't be crying when you hear someone else had the same idea and took it to the bank.

As for trying to open an envelope without showing signs of tampering--I think that would be something for Mythbusters.

But what would they blow up?

Well, the envelope myth would probably be handed to Kari/Grant/Tory, leaving Jamie and Adam free to blow up stuff.

Although, without any robots to design, Grant's role would be drastically reduced ... which is sad, because he's probably my favorite of the mythbusters. (In addition, how many others are a Lucas-certified R2D2 operator?)

To open a sealed envelope without messing it up,I understand you just need to place it in the freezer for a few hours ;)

DMom, I am seeing potential for the Mythbusters episode.
