Mass quote post, just a heads up. I saw a lot of posts that reminded me of stuff, lol.

Ahh yeah. Height requirements. The sole reason I'm so glad I'm not in attractions. When @ K's, I started at Xcelerator...tallest height requirement, sloped station, and tons of SGs trying to get their sparkies on the attraction. I was considered a "hardass" by most of my co-workers and almost every SG. I was happy when I finally crosstrained to Mine Ride and Calico Rail Road...no height requirements. :)

Hey hey hey, I cared. But I worked there back in 06...not sure what its like now since I don't visit. Now granted you do have some truth to that post. I remember a couple of newhires letting a child stay on dock at Xcelerator while launching and not even notice it. I busted my ass at every attraction I worked at.

6. Cry honey, she'll let you on if you start crying.
7. I'm not leaving until you let her on the ride!
8. This is discrimination!
9. I'm going to sue you!
10. Kiss your job goodbye!
11. It's ok, we'll just come back later when there's someone here who isn't rude.
13. You just ruined our whole vacation!
14. You'd let him on if he was white!
I heard my fair share of those...lol.
felinefan wrote:I got the excuse of, "But my kid has ridden this a thousand times without a problem!" when I worked at Knott's. Even worse, "The other ride operators let my child ride!" And yes, I would tell them about how the height requiremments are set, etc.. Waste of breath most of the time. I should've pulled the "child endangerment" card.
First card I always pulled. I'd say something along the lines "Sir/Ma'am, the reason we can't let your child ride is due to the fact that WE do not set these height requirements, the manufacturer of the attraction does. Its a minimum height that a guest can safely ride with the restraints in place being used. Your child does not meet that requirement, and therefore can suffer fatal injuries if they were to ride. Now, would you still want your child to ride, knowing they can die?"
hobie16 wrote:When the "other" operators run this attraction then she can ride. Until then... :D:
I've used that line more than I care to admit too, especially when dealing with SGs using the same line in succession.

Can I ask a question?

I was stuck behind a SG arguing with a CM on BTMRR. He wanted his obviously too short son to go on the ride. There were many guests standing around waiting for the argument to finish so they could show the CM their FP. I walked up to the CM, showed him my FP and he nodded at me to go ahead while he was patiently telling the SG the height restrictions.

I started to go ahead when another guest started yelling at me that I was cutting in front of her party that was standing around watching the debate. I decided it was not worth the hassle and waited for the debate to end and let her and her party get their FP's checked and get in line. She continued to grumble about my "rude" behavior while in the line. My spouse finally said, "If you're so dumb that you're going to stand there and watch the debate, people are going to get in line ahead of you!" She shut up at that point.

Were we being rude? What should have we done?

Thank you!

Nah, you guys were fine. I agree as well. If you're going to stand there and watch a debacle like two people arguing or something, you've IMO decided to NOT get in line for the attraction. You don't have to stay there and wait for it to end....Us Cast Members CAN multi-task! If anything, the guests standing there watching the SG argue are almost as bad as SGs themselves.

Way to put the SG in their place too! I do not like it when people continue to whine about things like that. Way to step up and tell them to shush!

Oh, and welcome to SGT! :dancear:

You'll either love it or hate it. Hopefully love it. Watch out though, discussions change without notice. If you don't like the current topic in a thread, come back in 5 or 6 posts.

And I'm totally sure there will be several other welcomes much grander than mine.

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.

;) One night while working grouper at Nemo, I was standing by the exit ramp, which we share with the monorail and people like to think this is the entrance to Nemo when in fact it is at the front entrance, on this day a SG came up and started to go off about another SG saying that these guys tried to cut them on monorail, I saw who they were and told her ok and if i see anything happen I will deal with it accordingly, but right now I did not see anything that happened up there, so I'm sry. She finally left in disgust, It seemed like she wanted me to tackle them and take them to the ground and kick them out of the park quicker then you could say otorhinolaragology.

Thanks guys and thanks for letting us non-CM's join the party. I've pretty much worked in guest service my entire working life so I can relate to some degree.

I've been reading some of the other boards and cannot believe the entitlement mentality of some people. I don't know how you do it some days.

Good luck out there!
