Ahh yeah. Height requirements. The sole reason I'm so glad I'm not in attractions. When @ K's, I started at Xcelerator...tallest height requirement, sloped station, and tons of SGs trying to get their sparkies on the attraction. I was considered a "hardass" by most of my co-workers and almost every SG. I was happy when I finally crosstrained to Mine Ride and Calico Rail Road...no height requirements. :)
Hey hey hey, I cared. But I worked there back in 06...not sure what its like now since I don't visit. Now granted you do have some truth to that post. I remember a couple of newhires letting a child stay on dock at Xcelerator while launching and not even notice it. I busted my ass at every attraction I worked at.felinefan wrote:Knott's ride ops caring about ride rules???? WHERE????? Not when I worked there! New ride ops apparently knew almost nothing about rules, were letting kids on rides without measuring, etc..
I heard my fair share of those...lol.Main_Street_Merch wrote: 1. You're just abusing what little power you have.

First card I always pulled. I'd say something along the lines "Sir/Ma'am, the reason we can't let your child ride is due to the fact that WE do not set these height requirements, the manufacturer of the attraction does. Its a minimum height that a guest can safely ride with the restraints in place being used. Your child does not meet that requirement, and therefore can suffer fatal injuries if they were to ride. Now, would you still want your child to ride, knowing they can die?"felinefan wrote:I got the excuse of, "But my kid has ridden this a thousand times without a problem!" when I worked at Knott's. Even worse, "The other ride operators let my child ride!" And yes, I would tell them about how the height requiremments are set, etc.. Waste of breath most of the time. I should've pulled the "child endangerment" card.
I've used that line more than I care to admit too, especially when dealing with SGs using the same line in succession.hobie16 wrote:When the "other" operators run this attraction then she can ride. Until then... :D:
