Well, Patch, I think that DragonFox has it right here. I think a mother should be able to breast-feed anywhere, but they should also be discreet. Anytime I've had a discussion with someone who feels it's perfectly fine to just whip them out and feed their baby, I point out that in some situations (and especially a place like Disney parks) it's being respectful of other people. The thing I always point out is that by completely exposing yourself, you may be forcing another parent to have the sex talk with their child before they had intended to. So, by exposing yourself to breast-feed, you are taking away their right to explain sex to their children when they choose to.PatchOBlack wrote:I'll follow the topic drift with my two cents worth....
Do I think breast-feeding is natural? Yes. Do I think a mother has a right to breast-feed a baby? Sure. Does she have the right to do it anywhere she wants at any time? No.
And for the record, I did breast-feed my daughter, and I did it without covering twice, once in a movie theater and that was just long enough to get her positioned (I couldn't see anything in the dark and under the blanket) and once at dinner when my husband had dropped me off in a hurry and I left the diaper bag in the car and that was a very secluded table and to be honest, with my large baggy t-shirt down as much as possible, you couldn't see anything anyway.

I think the leap from "seeing someone breastfeeding" to "having the sex talk" is a big one. You're reaching there.

Kinda both...but he's 6'5" and, roughly, 200 pounds.hobie16 wrote:Good stories. Your husband must either be big or has an intimidating look.

I think feeding in public is fine as long as you are discreetly covered. And if you are discreetly covered, shame on other folks for staring long enough to figure out what you are doing.
The same folks that complain about that would also be the first to complain if you child was screaming because they were hungry. And Patch, would you feed your 3 year old a sandwich in a public restroom? Or would you want to hang out in one for 30 minutes or more? Not me. I just don't feel they are clean enough.

This was the issue I had in the restaurant. I said to the manager, "would you eat in there?!?!" He didn't have a comment to that.GaTechGal wrote:And Patch, would you feed your 3 year old a sandwich in a public restroom? Or would you want to hang out in one for 30 minutes or more? Not me.
