There have been a lot of gypsy protesters in town. They were even advertising for billets for them. They just travel around from protest to protest. At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Yeah, clever those politicians! I don't mind providing to the cops. When they run it, they will find that I have been cleared for some events I have worked that required me to be within reach of the Pope, the Queen of England, the Prime Minister of Japan, and the Rolling Stones. Combine that with the fact that I hold a federal pyrotechnics license, and it always raises eyebrows when they run my passport at the airport. Apparently that all pops up when they run my ID. They are only arresting those who refuse to provide ID or submit to a search. They locked the zone down earlier today for the duration.
As I type this the cops and protesters are scuffling outside the subway station I use to get home. :(
I'm glad i took the car today. I'd hate to be trying to get home through that with my case of Blue Moon (which is sold as Rickards White up here).

Just had a 'great' idea for a riot vehicle. Instead of a SWAT car with a water cannon,load that bad-boy up with beer. The protesters would be so hammered and you could make a fortune on 'pay-toilets' and aspirins. :D:

holy moley...I think you just hit on the perfect solution, just put the designated protest area next so say, some bars near a steel works factory or other similar type of factory.
then have the cops stand on the OTHER side of the fence, and watch the fun.

Last night was pretty noisy with the tent city at Allen Gardens. A friend whose apt overlooks the park was kept up most of the night by chanting. 2 blocks away, I just closed the windows and blocked it out.
The big marches are today. several idiots with Molotov cocktails were arrested. Today's is a big labor march that the anarchists have pledged to infiltrate, and it looks like they have succeeded.
Thankfully no violence so far, but the rain is letting up and that may heat tempers.
