A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

The G20 is coming to downtown Toronto next week. And the fence is going up. Police are expecting rioting.
The bank towers are removing all signage identifying them as banks.
And I live between 2 of the protest zones.
School buses are being canceled, day cares shut down. Our lives turned upside down.
My wife may end up a prisoner at work in her hospital if rioting breaks out.
The anarchists say they are geared up for mass violence. Last month they blew up a bank in Montreal.
And through it all we are expected to come to work. I may be calling in sick next week!

Buy plywood futures.

Plywood is in short supply. I am going to get some on Monday if I can find any. Many businesses have been buying it and stockpiling it for the last month. We thought our area would be in the clear, until last week when the decided that a nearby park would be a designated protest zone. They chose a park with a 100 year old greenhouse structure.
This should withstand an unruly mob with Rocks and sticks !

The greenhouse is screwed unless you can mobilize the pit bulls. Does the RCMP still use horses?

The horses will be out in full force, though Im not sure the mounties use them for crowd control, our city police use them frequently. Normally our street is one of the places they stage the horses and SWAT team for crowd control. I am hoping that the horse trailers will be just down the street most of the weekend! And a buss load of guys in riot gear standing by should help too! Naturally they wont tell anyone what they have planned, but if past practice is any indication, we may have to wade through cops to get out of the driveway. I hope !

Just saying. If there was a time to get out of the GTA, right now would be it. Not to mention that Saint-Jean is next Sunday, so everyone's in a much better mood than Ontarian counterparts it would seem.
I wish we could get out of town. Unfortunately, my show is the only one planning on running through the weekend ! All the other theaters are shutting down, as the police will not guarantee the safety of the patrons. They are much closer to the summit location, only 2 blocks from it. Our show is about 10 miles north. Outside the protest area, but most of the cast, and many of the crew live in the core, some within the red zone.
They keep telling us the main agitators / anarchists are coming from Quebec ! Its a shame they would waste the holiday in Ontario, rather than relaxing in la belle Province!

For some reason they seem to think that it will garner support for their cause - be it anarchy, starving children, anti globalization women s rights...
As far as I can tell, participating in this kind of violent protests just reduces their message to and credibility to zero. There are a lot of agitators who just go to these things just to enjoy breaking the windows of a few banks, and to suck up some teargas. If I was part of a legitimate protest group, I would stay completely away to avoid a real message being hijacked by the ruffians.
Even last night the small park at the end of our street had a dozen or so young people who appeared to be camping there setting up for the night. They will get a surprise when the police horseys show up to use the park as a corral !
