Love it!!!! :D:

DisneyGuy - I have also sworn off the other boards for the most part; I agree - they say they love Disney but are looking for ways to get freebies and "more magic" out of their trips. I so want to say "Dude, YOU make the magic with your families", but then I'd be flamed. I come here because we can have open, frank discussions as well as having fun.

I agree, Wombat, I would miss out on too much entertainment if I hit the ignore button.

And, yes.....they came from the Disboards. As I said, unfortunately, the web address was leaked and they hopped on over here.

I'm not a fan of the ignore button either... one I'd be dying to know what was said every time I saw a post by someone I had blocked... and of course, I'm an optimist...what if they have something thoughtful to say some day? I'd miss out.

But if someone is ticking someone off and ruining their enjoyment of the site every time they pick up a keyboard... then I can't blame them for removing that trigger from their screens.

When I did ROP at Knott's Berry Farm, we had the same rules as Disney. All CM's are not allowed to take any food from guests. If you are caught with the food and eating it, you will be dismissed from the company.

A few years ago in ODV there was an important roll call. My supervisor was telling us that allot of guests were bringing in treats to the CMS. She said if any of us took one, we would be dismissed quickly from the company. This follows the same rules eating food on your cart. It is not allowed. Since of 9-1-1, we can't accept anything. That brownie in plastic wrap could have a substance that can cause the CM to get sick or die.

So, now when guests come up and ask me or others in my department we say no.

I'm a recovering Board X user myself. I still lurk over there for entertainment's sake only; the squabbling and drama are too much to resist (kind of like rubbernecking at a car wreck). I hope y'all don't mind if I join you here...will it help if I promise to try and keep my SG levels down below critical? :p:

CMs are 80% of why WDW and DL are as magical as they are. I understand wanting to express gratitude for a job well done but by the same token, I don't want to see your jobs become any more difficult than they already are so I'm glad I asked about giving out the glowy necklaces before actually doing it. Thanks again for the input - much appreciated.

there are a couple of other boards that I have found that seeem to be a bit more direct...in their "scorn" of Stupid Guests that continue to do dumb things after being told otherwise.

I have noticed that board X seems to be attracting more and more fringe elements that seem very entitled. Granted it may be minor stuff, but the little stuff starts to add up. last trip a very vocal woman behind us was complaining that "disney was for kids" and that waiting in line to see Mickey should be quick for kids.

I have said it before, Disney is allowing too many stupid guests to get away with crap, to the determent of the other guests.

Just chiming in....I too...mostly lurk over there (except maybe the photography board), but I can't BELIEVE (ok..maybe I can) the kind of 'tudes that live over there on Board X. It's like everyone figures 'hey...no one can see me...I'll be the biggest jag I can and stir up all sorts of crap and screw you'. I read mostly for entertainment value..not because they have any valid info that I can't get elsewhere.

As far as the goody bags go...if you can't accept something because you are on stage...then they need to just accept that and move on. Say thank you...treat the CMs like human beings. My dh, who can look like he's grouchy, was the first one to offer a smile, encouraging words, or strike up a conversation. He's also the first one to make sure he talks to a manager if we get stellar service. I would never have thought that I'd give a CM something like a goody bag or a piece of candy, etc. However, in September, a friend an I were at DHS and in the Animation building meeting Sorcerer Mickey. These two men in front of us proceeded to give Mickey and his handler handfuls of candy. So...I can understand that maybe someone might get confused that there are rules that need to be followed. I hope no one got in trouble for that one.
