Guest Relations in the parks remain open until every guest has exited that park for the day. I am sure the Guest Relations CMs will be happy to hear a compliment while we all wait for every guest to exit the park.

BTW, a CM who picked up a quarter off the ground and used it to make a phone call was fired. Yes, a QUARTER. Do you not understand that any gift of any amount can be used to discipline the CM?

CMs are absolutely not allowed to accept gifts or eat anything on stage. PERIOD.

Perhaps your daughter can implement the family info/thank you card instead?

Hi, I'm the daughter of the "lunatic" you are speaking about and I'm just adding onto what my mom said. Yes we gave goodie bags, but we also gave to the supervisors or when the supervisors/managers were around. If we were not allowed to give these gifts, do you think the supervisors would be the ones to say you can't do this, it could risk the CMs jobs? That's my two cents on the matter.

LOL! Every CM on here says that they are not allowed to take gifts (goody bags) but the goody bag people say they are going to keep giving out goody bags. Some unsuspecting CM, probably new, is going to be "not thinking", take a goody bag and eat something out of it, get caught and end up losing his or her job.

But the goody baggers will still be "special."

Companies (not just Disney) have been using similar tactics for years. We should not put CMs in any jeopardy, even if it was only meant as a nice gesture. Going to City Hall to give compliments seems the best way.
Us Disney Nuts feel the Magic everytime we go- but we are AMATEURS! Best to leave it to the experts and behave and show respect to make their day better :)

OK, I'm going to reply (finally...) because I've had the time to read both threads in full.

All I can say is that I love you guys! :D: CMs make the magic when my family and I visit. I joined this forum because you guys are funny, honest, and easy to relate to (I'm an accountant with crazy clients!). When my family and I visit WDW, I visit GR if I have an extraordinary CM encounter. I have also written to GR once I've arrived home and even spoken to them on the phone regarding one particular experience (it was a good one....not bad). I tried to meet you guys when last we were down, but no such luck (BW was never on the platform when I was, Joanna had her day off, I missed you all going into MNSSHP, etc). I will definitely go out of my way to talk to a manager or GR when I receive great service (and I do this when I'm at home, too).

Unfortunately, I must report, that posters on Board X now have the address here to the forum (as is obvious from the above posts) and I feel you're all going to get "dumped upon". To paraphrase some of their thoughts you guys are sad, downright rude, have negative personalities, and are anti-Disney. Yes, you who work for Disney are against it!!! UGH

I just want you guys (and gals....sorry it's a South Jersey thing) to know that I will thank you with sincerity, I will go to GR and put in a good word for you, and I appreciate you for who you are.

Thanks! (ok...hopping off my soapbox now)

!
So you are saying that its either give out bags or be a pain in the..Side of the CM's?

And by your statements, even though you KNOW that it is wrong, you continue to do so, and possibly get the hard working CM that may forget and take a gift from you or your daughter into a dicipline situation?

(not to mention teaching your daughter to ignore the rules simply because you ego demands that you show the world you are sooooo thoughtful!)

that by the very defination is a Stupid Guest Trick!

they take them because they are more polite than you are. you are ignoring the rules and can possibly get them in trouble, yet you still feel its okay?

what do you expect, they feel that the rules are for "everybody else" and will continue to do so because, after all, they ARE stupid guests.

so many people, including CM's thatreally know the rules, have told them, but they continue. I only hope that security will make sure they go through each and every bag!! :p:

You people are reading to literaly into the actions that we did. This was not to show the world anything and we were just trying to show our thanks. We had spoken with Guest Relations about this, and talked with multiple cast members about what and WHY we were giving the treats.

Nobody was forced to take a treat. If I was turned down once (And that happened only a few times) then we said thanks and continued on our way or talked about working in WDW or the college program.

I guess there is no time for somebody to trust people and think there are other intentions behind the gift. We never asked for anything other than a few questions in return. Sure we were given pins, and my highlight a magical moments card but those were by choice of the CM.

Again this is my view on the event, and I see nobody wishes to see any kindness in a teenager at all.

Thank you.

Wolf... While I can understand your I thinking with regards to guests who may be unawares (see my posts earlier in this thread) the trouble here is that these particular individuals, who have read this thread and therefore now know that it could get someone into trouble, and that written complements/notes/wha-thave-you are preferred, are now boasting that they will persist in a path they've been advised could hurt someone.

That's kinda inconsiderate don't you think?

What?! You've gotten pins for your goody bag gift giving! Sweet. Forget the rules, I'm going to buy me some tootsie rolls.

PS How do I get my schnauzer to bark less?
