Oh, I know this. West is toward Catalina. East leads to THE RIVER! Hate The City. North 5 only to Sac. South is San Diego. It's the directions in between which throw me off. Many better scholars than you darph have tried to teach me. They all failed. I don't care abt directions! As long as I can get there, my world is bright.

Shorty, you are the only one who is logical. I get your DL terms. :)

G P, this statement right here confuses me. :( Your way of giving directions are not my way of driving. We'd NEVER get along! You sound like you're from The City. Exactly why I don't live in The City. Besides, it's fun to play "Let's get found." :D:

Are you serious?? What the hell for? Compass would get lost in truck. GPS is mounted on dash or built in, & I have mapquest. A compass? How totally old fashion.

Laugh now but what will you do when the battery dies?

sorry, it comes from using a compass way before GPS was invented.

plus when having to relay directions via a radio while on the move in a car, I had not only one of those car compass's, but my handy dandy lensatic!

never while driving.

its just that when driving I-5 NORTH, it is a little suprising to see the compass (and gps) say you are going west.

I got caught in a fun traffic snarl on Harbor Blvd and Orangewood. I sat in traffic for 30 minutes. This one area only takes 3 minutes to get up to Katella. I saw Anaheim police patroling the parking lot and was telling everyone is to park at Garden Walk parking lot.

I went home on Katella yesterday and that was a major mistake. Traffic was a nightmare around 5 pm.
My brother and sister in law lived next door to Disneyland for a couple of years and I agree with you on the traffic! But most of So Cal is a mess around 5pm anywhere you go nowdays

Thanks, Hobie. Sometimes the old ways work better and have fewer glitches than the new ways. A few years ago, I read where the U.S. Navy stopped offering a class in celestial navigation, using a sextant. They felt that GPS was a more modern way of finding one's position. Guess what? A huge solar flare occurred, knocking out the GPS system--as well as cell phone and internet services--and the GPS system was found to have an Achilles' heel. Needless to say, that doesn't happen with the sun, moon, stars and a sextant. To mess up a compass would take a major shift in Earth's magnetic field. Only place a compass would be useless would be at the Poles.
