Sign? What Sign?
In an effort to improve road safety and avoid traffic backups, the Reedy Crteek Improvement District and the Florida Department of Transportation recently installed signs on several roads entering the Walt Disney World Resort (especially those with the giant marquee signs) advising people that they should only pull over for emergency purposes only.
The signs are big, bold and have flashing lights on them.
As such, what was I not surprised to see on my way into work this morning?
A line of 10 or so cars stretched along the side of State Road 536, on the edge of Disney Property. With all the occupants of those cars jockeying for position so they could take pictures in front of the giant "Welcome to Walt Disney World Resort" sign.
Idiots.

They should have a 'scenic view' turnoff and post a Photopass photographer there.

Recently, similar signs near Gainesville were the object of curious looks from the passing traffic. Seems like someone hacked into the computers and changed the message to "Warning -- Zombie Attack Ahead"glendalais wrote: for emergency purposes only.
not that I'm suggesting anything...
Merry Christmas to all Marsupials, Doctors, etc. and Skippers, too!

Even better, post a few cops there and park them hidden behind the arches. As people stop to take photos the cops walk up to the cars with ticket books in hand. :twisted:Moonliner wrote:They should have a 'scenic view' turnoff and post a Photopass photographer there.
Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

This drives me crazy. It's dangerous and stupid. I was glad when I saw the signs, but apparently SGs will do they do best: ignore signs and their own safety.
The funny thing is that the Sheriff cars usually hide not far from the entrances. Apparently they don't really care.

I do agree with the 'scenic view' pull over idea.
